Ate in, got Nashville got chicken and housemade chips and all I tasted was grease. The only thing I'm trying here is the beer menu and maybe some fries.

“Sheppys” is the place to go for great service, food, and drinks. I’ve been going here for years with my neighborhood friends and wife. I personally LOVE the vegan sloppy joe. Like laying in the sand on a warm day, warm, comforting, but a little messy. It brings me back to my earlier days: I would spend hours in a car with my family anxiously waiting to see my grandparents. With love as the main ingredient, my grandmother would always prepare us sloppy Joe’s to celebrate our arrival. Same vibe. Worth the trip.

Cheap PBR and one of the best spicy chicken sandwiches I've ever had (Nashville style). Get the coleslaw to put on top of it. They say it's fermented, which sounds weird, but it's incredible. Excellent dive and one of my favorite places to eat in Richmond.

One of the most easygoing, unpretentious places in Richmond. Service and quality are wonderful. I hesitate to say this because a crowd would ruin it but they deserve the revenue.

I come here pretty much every weekend with my roommate. We are younger so it’s nice to experience the different and unique vibe Sheppard Street offers. Because of this, we brought some friends who were visiting from NOVA. We were having a great time until the male bartender with an afro decided to be completely rude to my friends. He ended up taking my friends shots away before we could even pay because he had sunglasses on. It was because of the apparent ABC laws VA has, which is fair enough. However after my friend had removed his sunglasses he charged outside and took the shots from my visiting friends while we were outside, because the sunglasses were on his forehead (since that’s apparently so important). The female bartender who we dealt with before this man had no problems at all and we properly tipped and enjoyed conversations with her, who didn’t care about the sunglasses because who would. What the male bartender did was the most senseless thing I ever experienced at a bar, and ruined my image of Sheppard Street Tavern. Will not be back anytime soon.

Food is always delicious and waitress was very nice, greeting us with a smile.

Real chill local hangout. Sat in the patio with my dog on a hot afternoon. The cold IPA and burger hit the spot. Friendly waitress and local patrons who struck up conversations made a fun visit.

One word...FOOD! The blackened fish tacos and brisket burger is truly mouthwatering! It's a must try!

Went to attempt the food challenge and was not able too but they let me get the sauce on something different and I’ll you what idk if could do the challenge. Food was great service was better!

Seated quickly and service was great! Waitress was very familiar with both the food and spirits menus. Loaded tots to start, and they were the perfect starter! Beer cheese was tangy but tasted amazing! All three of us settled on burgers, myself and the Mrs got Pretzel burger with bacon and smoked Gouda with the chips as a side, little guy got a regular with no mustard and fries.First off... The chips are fresh cooked and AMAZING! The seasoning on them is unique.. salty, but just the right way and some seasoning I couldn't put my finger on... But I loved it!Burgers were cooked perfectly, the taste of the bacon and smoked Gouda really added some great layers of flavor to the seasoning on the burger. I would have liked some salt on the pretzel bun.. but that's the only less criticism I can give on the food! The only downside to the experience was a small one. The patio/entrance is the smoking area for the bar as well... So you have to walk through cigarette smoke to get in... But I had zero issue with it. I just could see it as negative for other visitors.Very dive bar/downtown feel, diverse clientele, friendly and fast service, and great food all make this somewhat hidden gem!Next time, I'm going for the meatloaf! Definitely a multiple visit kinda place for me!!
