The Secret Sandwich Society is located in downtown Richmond. Be prepared to drive around a while before finding a parking spot. And be prepared to pay for said spot. You can pay using the Passport app or pay at one of the kiosks. We arrived on a Wednesday about 11:30. It got busy in a hurry, and by noon it was packed and people were waiting outside for a seat. We opted to sit at the bar. The bartendress/server was very attentive even with a bar full of people. We both had a double IPA from Salem VA which we both enjoyed. My spouse ordered the Truman sandwich. It consisted of turkey, peach marmalade, crispy onions, and blue cheese on a very soft potato roll. It was really different and ended up as a tasty combination of flavors. The homemade chips were good but could have used a little salt. I ordered the crispy fried brussels sprouts with parmesan and lemon. They had a good flavor but were a tad greasy for me. The homemade pickles were dill-icious! They were the best pickles we’ve ever eaten, and we ended up buying a quart to go. We would definitely return. There are lots of other menu items we’d like to try.

With Two appetizers I can bring home leftovers in a box

This spot offers a unique and quality menu with friendly service. Our waitress, Claudia, was very amenable and efficient - from ordering to getting the check, the service was seamless, and I would definitely go back! We got sweet potato fries (5/5) for an appetizer, and I got the Zeus Greek salad with roasted chicken as an entree. Greek salads can be hit or miss, but this was definitely a hit!

Great atmosphere with friendly service. Don't underestimate the size of the meals. We probably could have just split a single sandwich after eating all the pimento fries. Both sandwiches were well prepared, tasted great and definitely filling. Bloody Mary and specialty cocktails were tasty as well. No complaints, highly recommend stopping by.

I've been to the original location in Fayetteville, and this one has much faster and better service, with the same quality of food. The pimento cheese fries are absolutely outstanding, the sandwiches are incredible, and the pickles are just about my favorite from anywhere. I also tried the curried cauliflower this time around, and it did not disappoint. I would highly recommend this place!

So it's Monday and this is the only thing open today. I stumbled across this place bc it was across the street from my hotel. I sat at the bar were Trenton took great care of me. He gave me some recommendations and I let him pick my lunch. He selected the Kennedy for me. My first bite was just so full of flavor. The different stuff that they put into that sangawich really blended well. It was like pork and MOJO sauce. (But it wasn't that at all). I love a little vinegar taste / flavor. It came with chips and a pickle. Let's talk about the pickle. OMG what do they put in their brine?. This is, with out a doubt, the best pickle I have ever had. I would have bought a jar to take home but I was flying home and you know TSA. They would have made me drink all that juice. I regress. Anyway, this place makes a smokey ol fashions, drinks. First place I've seen this done. Very unique, I think. The restaurant was of a good size. On this day, it was full of hungry people. The service was great. Conversation was good. Food was really good and that darn pickle..... great. If I were staying here longer, I'm sure I would be eating here again but definitely I will be back. Three menu has a pretty good selection of different stuff, so I'm sure you'll find something that you'll like. Come hungry. Eat your pickle. I recommend

We were asked to LEAVE the restaurant by the manager. He told us that just ordering drinks was not making him money and we were taking up space from the people waiting to be seated. I looked and there was NO ONE WAITING. I hope everyone believes this. I was embarrassed and so very angry that I got up and left before I spoke out in anger. Also we had already decided to come back there and have lunch after our scheduled tour was over. After how he treated us..... he lost our business and the business from everyone else I tell my experience to This is the review I posted on their website.

Found this Gem of a restaurant in the downtown district of Richmond! Seriously good sandwiches and the Parmesan Truffle fries are addictively delicious! Great service during a busy lunch rush, every table inside was full! Will definitely be coming back here to try another one of their sandwich options! There is a public parking lot a block away on 7th that was really convenient also.

And after a long wait the service was slow. We arrived at 12:15 and didn’t finish lunch until 1:45. That’s insane on a Monday. Now- the food. Brussel Sprouts excellent. Good hummus plate. But the sandwiches are nothing special. In particular the grill cheese with the kale and red peppers was not good. The cheese was off center and the roasted peppers not drained so it make the bread soggy. And the kale was tough and chewy - would be much better with crispy kale and just a few strips of the red peppers - not a thick layer as it over powered. Friends said their sandwiches were ok. So IMHO this place is way overrated.
