Overall a great experience and the food was AMAZING.Had the oxtail sopes also but they were so good (and I was so hungry) that I didn’t get a picture!Overall solid experience. Service was on point and she did a great job of communicating delays in the kitchen.

Cool little corner bar and restaurant. We stopped here last weekend around 10:30PM after attending a concert at the Altria Theater. I ordered a Smash Burger and my wife ordered a Chicken sandwich, both with a side of fries. We both had drinks as well. Service was fast and friendly. The only reason for the 4 rating is the loud 'techno' style club music playing, which made conversation a little more difficult. Other than that, I would definitely recommend and will return if/when we're ever in Richmond again.

From the cocktail menu through the deserts, everything was fantastic. Interesting flavors paired with excellent presentation. Of note was the Viet Tlayuda which was maybe the best play on crab salad I've had. Delicious. And the staff was great... working as a team to strike a perfect balance between professional and friendly service. Would definitely recommend.

My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful romantic dinner here last weekend. My spicy margarita with mezcal was amazing. I had the Smashburger which was cooked to perfection and my husband enjoyed the pork which included lettuce to make wraps with some yummy sauces. Our server, River was wonderful and they were super friendly and very knowledgeable about all the offerings. Great experience and highly recommend!!

Food is amazing! Definitely one of my favs!

We just had a very mixed experience at Saison. It was really a tale of two dinners/diners. If you asked my wife, she would say she had one of the best meals of her life. Me? I left really disappointed after trying two poor entrees that were lacking in flavor or were otherwise poorly executed.First off, the cocktail and beer program at Saison is excellent. The cocktails were incredibly well balanced and flavorful. The beer list was varied and impressive. The small plates were also very good. The gnocchi were incredibly light and airy, and the entire dish was earthy, woody, and delicious. The sopes were incredibly flavorful, but would have been better if the oxtail was served a bit warmer. The shaved brussels were surprisingly served raw and cold, but were still excellent, albeit a bit too spicy. The main course was where things took a turn. My wife loved her seared catfish and the leek bread pudding it was served on top of. But my coq au vin was legit awful. The chicken was dry, and nothing had that rich, bold, unctuous "braised for hours in red wine" flavor that coq au vin is famous for. Everything felt like it was roasted independently and then topped in a wine sauce...which is NOT coq au vin.Our server, River, was amazing, and offered to bring out a different entree. River suggested the steak frites, so I figured I'd give them a shot.Unfortunately, the steak was bland and completely under-seasoned. It also had no sear or char. I gave a small piece to my wife, who commented that it tasted like unseasoned roast beef. The frites were done in a poutine style, with a sauce and cheese curds. Unfortunately, the sauce was sour and off-putting. A demi-glase or brown gravy would have been so much better. My wife then ordered the paris-brest - a baked apple donut dish - for dessert. It was...meh? The actual dish was served cold...for reasons. It would have been so much better warm. It also could have used a scoop or ice cream or a creme anglaise to add some sweetness and creaminess.Overall, the dishes at Saison were VERY hit or miss. Considering the prices, I would have preferred a few more "hits."

We ordered take out from this neighborhood restaurant when visiting Richmond and I definitely enjoyed the smash burger that I ordered.

Had three different salad small plates that had same ingredients in them so tasted all the same. Butternut squash was hard and unpalatable. i have foie gras once a year and am not used to it being served from a can. (described as a terrine.) To the restaurant's credit, they refunded two of the salads. Complained to waiter and the very defensive owner came to our table. Ugh. Well, must come to the conclusion from the other very favorable reviews that they must have had a bad night. So will upgrade my "terrible" rating to "average" as to not skew the ratings.

Outstanding experience. Every bite of food was phenomenal. Vibe is cozy and warm. Our service was superb - prompt and attentive. Just a lovely dinner I couldn’t recommend highly enough. I had the oxtail appetizer, schnitzel entree, and ganache dessert. They also have a great selection of beers and cocktails.

Should be a cocktail tapas bar. Cocktails were well presented and very flavorful with a very nice atmosphere despite the somewhat loud music. Food leaves a lot to be desired. Burgers are nothing special with a soggy bun. Roasted chicken was very bland and definitely does not merit the price. Needless to say, looking at the schnitzel that a neighboring table ordered did not encourage me to be adventurous. Best to enjoy the cocktails and have dinner elsewhere.
