We go here just about every other day with our 2 doggos, 1 a mix, and 1 a crazy chocolate lab. There's plenty of room to run for the dogs, drinks and food at the bar, and people are friendly. I DO wish someone else would control the music. It's been nonstop country, and yesterday was Jimmy Buffet, another day was gospel country....someone needs to switch it up. Give us early 2000s emo music, or 90s music, top hits, whatever....but please please limit the country and horrible Jimmy Buffet stuff lol. Please. Also please stay open late when the sun goes down in the fall because I'm pale and the sun hates me ?Also just an idea from what I've seen: maybe put a barrier around the cornhole area so the dogs don't pee on them and steal the bags (it's my dog. She steals the bags and then I'm running after her and apologizing ?)
We go to Ruff almost every single day and it's the absolute best thing for our dog. She loves running with other dogs, chewing the tennis balls as she sunbathes and getting lots of scratches from the other humans. I was worried that we wouldn't be able to continue going through summer months because pugs are very sensitive to heat. The kiddie pools, sprinkler and now extended hours are amazing though! And have allowed us to continue coming. The staff is so friendly and always welcomes us with big smiles (and by name). The bar continues to expand and is a great place to rest and relax while your dogs gets their energy out. We couldn't be happier!
I totally love this place! I live in Ashland but take my part chi part hot mess there and she loves it! I don't give out 5 stars easily
My dog has always been used to a house with a yard to roam around in, and for a few months she was confined to a small one bedroom apartment while I was finishing up grad school. Ruff was our saving grace. It was a place where she could hang out off leash, get her big zoomies out, and chase a ball for a while. Even as a not super-social dog, it was beneficial for her to get out at least a few times a week and get some good sniffs in. Everyone working at Ruff was always so nice, and their events are always so much fun. The bar was an especially welcome touch, and during the colder months the mulled wine was perfect. Wish we had a Ruff where I’ve relocated to!
Ruff has been an excellent experience for me and my dog! We've been coming since they first opened and quickly got the year membership. It's helped my dog get socialized, and it's helped me meet new people. The staff are incredibly friendly, and the rufferees do an excellent job of keeping the park safe and welcoming. I highly recommend Ruff to any and all dog owners in Richmond!
We went yesterday for the first time. What a great place! They have baby pools in warm weather and the patrons all seemed friendly. The dogs were having a great time. The referee is a great addition. The girl at the front could not have been nicer. This is a great place to socialize your dog while socializing yourself.
Ruff has been the best thing to happen to Richmond! As a first-time dog owner with a high energy puppy, Ruff has been an amazing place to socialize my dog, meet other dog owners in the area, and exercise my dog in a healthy, safe, and fun environment. Dog parks have always made me nervous in the past, because you never know whether the dogs there are aggressive, spayed/neutered, and/or up-to-date on their shots, so I love that Ruff's membership model and park rules give me such peace of mind for the health and safety of my puppy. I have learned so much from other dog owners in my short time as a member, and I find myself at Ruff multiple times a week because my dog and I love it so much. The rufferees and management are so knowledgeable, personable, and clearly care about their members. I cannot speak highly enough about Ruff and encourage anyone with a dog in the Richmond area to come check it out!
Came here and had such a great time. There were lots of pups there and everyone was lovely. The staff was all really sweet. Can’t wait for next time!
This is the worst place ever. Me and my best friend went here with her sweet pup, and they told us she was barking too much, when other dogs were barking just as much if not more. This was our first time here too, and they said that she had three strikes and then she has to go in time out. This is not a child preschool. Dogs bark it’s what they do. The girl also said that someone complained, and me as an observant person looked the whole time and never saw anyone complain. So this girl that works here, didn’t like our dog. And she said her dogs barks a lot too. Also I did not see her going up to another person telling them that their dog is barking too much. It was only us. This is the same girl that also gave us trouble at the door claiming that my friends dog didn’t have updated shots when it’s right in front of her face. This is discrimination and I will not tolerate it. We will not be back. Don’t be stupid. Stay away. Definitely not impressed being a first time visitor.
Such a great place! I love that all dogs have to show proof of their vaccinations. It’s very clean and the staff is really friendly. My dog has the best time there. We have been multiple times and each visit has been a great experience. Highly recommend!
