This is a fantastic small market that is wonderful for the Rocketts Landing neighborhood. We LOVE stopping in during our walks throughout the week to grab whatever new, fun drink they have in stock. They have a HUGE beer, canned cocktail, and wine selection that features many prominent RVA makers (Hardywood, Belle Isle, etc.). They also have a multitude of local brands including Nightingale Ice Cream Sandwiches! Their selection is really unmatched in terms of drinks and snacks. There are many prepackaged items such as frozen sandwiches, pints of ice cream, chips, and candies in addition to home staples such as flour, sugar, sauces, and oatmeal. They even have some fresh dairy products such as milk, yogurt, and Nestle cookie dough. For the local fisherman, they also sell fresh bait. Overall, I’m beyond happy to have them in RL from a convenience aspect!I would like to take a moment and say that this is a convenience market first and a food place second. There are some negative reviews about the coffee where they’re attempting to compare this market to an established, legitimate RVA cafe. You wouldn’t go to a 7-11 cafe section for a phenomenal coffee experience so why would you come here only to complain?
Multiple issues with making just a regular iced coffee. They’ve made it incorrectly multiple different ways, and recently when I tried to explain again what I wanted, the owner insisted he made it correctly, even though he filled it with milk and almond milk (not what I ordered). In Richmond there are so many incredible places to pick up coffee, they either need to learn how to make good coffee and have great customer service, or stop selling coffee.
The workers are friendly and always make me feel welcome. The selection is superb, especially for those with dietary restrictions. My father loves the deli sandwiches - I love the wine selection. Great to have a market in the community.
Pros: Convenient for Rocketts Landing residents. Decent wine and beer selection.Cons: Poor service: Prices at counter don’t match signs- tell customer they’re wrong and look at you with blank faces(this has happened to others as well), 3 separate times the employees haven’t known how to work the espresso machine or make regular coffee. Simple drinks have been cold, made wrong, and filled up the cup half-way. They also don’t know how to make the sandwiches they advertise- they fumble their way through it and it’s not even worth trying to correct.All in all it’s convenient but disappointing service. I’d stay away from anything they have to make.
