Heard from a good source Owner “doesn’t like black people”. Contact me through email to know about his racist, hateful background. All around not good food (tasted pre-cooked). People are people no matter the shade, ridiculous. Also, needs a deep clean and better health in kitchen.
This is a go to place of mine but do not try to get food late night from them. They donr have it. Won't answer the phone and you have to come and deal with annoying drunks to pick it up if you were able to get it. Like all barstaff well most that are jaded and curt after years of dealing with drunk annoying and twisted folks, you get poor service and short answers. Not typical of this place earlier.
It was a fun spot to hang out with friends and have a good time, I didn't eat here and I didn't purchase any drinks so I can't comment on those aspects, but both the Karaoke night and DJ night were fun. DJ night seemed a little less hectic despite being on a Friday, while karaoke was fun but more of a packed house affair. When inquiring about special events earlier in the month I received very helpful and quick communication from the staff.
Absolutely ridiculous wait and zero food for 45 minutes. Never checked our drinks and everyone that sat down after my friend and I got their food in a timely manner. They removed one drink then tried to charge us for the food we never received. We asked for the manager 3 times and I told our waitress who was the oldest one there and she just gave the deer in headlights look like it was our fault she couldn't do her job. Beyond disrespectful, I mentioned the manager as a He and she made sure to correct me but not correct herself at her own job. I wish we got her name but we were visiting and this is the second and last time visiting this restaurant. I would never go back and I would steer anyone away. Especially since our waitress was the oldest one there and she cannot do her job. It's beyond sad and we loved it the first time we went.
We went in for lunch just after 11:00. The place was clean and smelled fresh and sterile. The men's bathroom was so clean you could eat maple walnut ice cream off the floor.
The New York Deli is an excellent dining experience. It was established in 1929.They have a wide variety of food. The service is great! It is very clean.
Went with a friend because I had not been to NYD in years and my friend had never been. I knew it had changed hands and had been remodeled as a full restaurant (i.e. got rid of the deli counter) but assumed the menu would be similar. Not. Polynesian, sriracha, coconut, plantains and jalapeno are not words I associate with any New York Deli. Touting itself as Richmond's oldest restaurant just because of the name and space is a stretch for me. There are several "deli" sandwiches on the menu (probably so they can continue to use the name) but the vast majority of the dishes have more of an island flair. Truly wish the name was not so misleading. The food was ok. Service was not. Next time I'm looking for "deli", I'll head to Boychik or check out Perly's.
I came here for the first time with friends on Feb. 11 and enjoyed the food and bar service a lot! However, the DJ that night was lackluster. Still, I returned the following weekend (Feb 18) with more friends and hyped up those beer battered fries ❤❤ then! The DJ THAT night was incredible!! I'm so glad we came back! Returned for the food and stayed for that music, my God. That DJ was so good but he didn't say his name and I'm actually leaving this review not only to share my delight with the restaurant, but to hopefully get that DJ booked again. Please bring him back, I got up to dance at like 10ish and didn't sit down again until I was about to leave at 1:30 ?
Went to New York deli for the first time today with coworkers and was extremely disappointed. There aren’t any vegan entree options which was the first bummer, but not a total deal breaker. Our server was super sweet at the beginning and then once we ordered our food never really check on us again. My order never came, my coworker and I both ordered fries, hers came and then when our server finally came back and realized I was the only one who didn’t get food I got mine to-go. The to-go container I received wasn’t even half of what my coworker, who placed the same order, received. I was charged for other peoples drinks I didn’t agree to pay, but at this point we had waited so long for checks we decided to just venmo the difference (I had planned on another drink but I was brought my check after being ignored for half an hour instead) and then we waited another ridiculous period of time just to get our cards back. Less than great experience
Very good sandwiches and the Frech Fries appetizer was very good with the melted cheese and very good seasoning on the hot fries was spicy and delicious
