I bought the restaurants chicken sandwich with the “That Sauce” and it was incredible the meat was juicy not dry at all and I loved the sauce. My mother had the Po Boy shrimp sandwich and we both also loved that too the shrimp was fresh and tasted great with the sauce they used. I definitely recommend and will visit again I would’ve posted pictures but I inhaled the food quickly hahaha
UNPROFESSIONAL!!!!!!! Please DO NOT book them for a catered event. Food for the event was paid for weeks before. Followed up with Helen, days before to confirm everything. It was a surprise party & we received an email at 7:15, which was the same time she was supposed to be at the event setting up, party started at 8. The email stated, she could no longer deliver our food!!!! She claims she didn’t have a driver to deliver!! But Why not call & we could’ve came & picked up the food!! We called for a whole hour & she did not answer the phone at all!!
I always have to have american cheese and/or cheese whiz on my cheesesteak but I tried it with provolone this time, which is how this place makes it. I didn't really care for the provolone but everything else was good.
Well damn! I don't know where to start! The food was amazing! It's a steal for the price you pay! Their burgers are massive! The customer service makes you feel like your grandma is the one cooking for you. The atmosphere and music are phenomenal. I would definitely recommend to eat here.
The food arrived hot. The fish was crispy. That is the only redeeming quality. The penne for their macaroni and cheese was overcooked. The yams were canned, savory in taste instead of sweet. The mashed potatoes still had their outer layer, which I love, however even with gravy, were bland. The fish had a peculiar taste to it, reminiscent of overcooked oil or the flavors and scents of other battered fried items. Nothing was seasoned well or appropriately. It could be that Ms. Girlee’s target audience is a much older population that are averse to seasonings and spices as a result of medical conditions, like high blood pressure and diabetes. This food would be great for them. Overall, it was underwhelming at best. Soul food is made with a delicate balance of love, creativity, and richness that reminds you of home. Unfortunately, Ms. Girlee’s does not know how to juggle that combination.
Today l was in Richmond taking care of some business. Ms. Girlee's was suggested to me for good soul food. So l stopped by for lunch.I was so disappointed. I ordered the southern fried chicken meal. The potato salad lacked flavor, yams tasted like they had just been taken out the can and the green beans were cooked to mush. The chicken was okay lacked flavor. The best part of the meal was the customer service!
This is my first time eating here. So I wanted to sample a little of everything. First let me start by saying their customer service their is amazing. Very sweet and respectful. Now the reason for the 2 stars. I love yams however the canned unsweetened yams that I was served was so bad. Fish was not seasoned. Pork chops sooooo thick and gravy was clumpy and watery. It was so hard to cut through the meat. Ribs and chicken was amazing. Seasoned to zeee bone as expected. The fact I spent $49 plus just to sample a lot of the food that was not worth it to me. Love the tea
We finally made it to Ms.Girlee’s Kitchen this afternoon. Fish was fantastic. Greens, mac and cheese and potato salad to die for! Came home with pineapple upside down cake and lemon cake for later!
Food is delish!!! But be prepared to get your workout on afterwards. But for real, for real, the food is no joke.
Took my mom here for birthday lunch, im very particular about my chicken liver. They rocked it, cooked well and flavorful seasoned. Mac and cheese made me feel like I was at home. My mom had the shrimp dinner and was impressed with the size of the shrimp at a great price point. Highly recommend.
