Mediterranean Bakery is an essential Richmond restaurant and easily makes the best baba ghanoush I’ve had - I’ve served it as catering at house parties and this has always been the consensus without exception. The gentle smokiness of the eggplant is perfect. Moreover, all of their fatayer are excellent. I’m especially fond of the spinach fatayer; it’s so savory and brightly acidic that even non-vegetarians who are accustomed to eating meat at every meal are content. Of course, the beef and feta fatayer are wonderful too. But what I most admire about Mediterranean Bakery are the owners and employees. I once made a mistake with the date on an online catering order for 20+ and only found out upon arrival. Everyone calmly helped us come up with a solution and miraculously were able to still serve everything with no prep time. And if that wasn’t enough, the shop has a lot of products that are hard to find elsewhere.
The food is wonderful here. I'm so happy that I'm able to find the bread my husband loves from Jordan.
A place to find brands and some flavors from Turkey.
The quality of the food has really went downhill in last 2 years. I was a huge fan but after my last couple of visits, I will probably not return. Ordered a chicken shawarma that barely had tahini on it& the chicken was shredded, which I’ve never seen before. The chicken kebob had two pieces of meat. Not sure what happened here, but they need to get back the caliber of cooks they had 3-4 years ago. Service isn’t great either.
We probably should have come earlier in the day but when we came in about an hour and half before closing most hot items were sold out. What we got was yummy. Service was friendly.
Took my little boy in here to get our favorite pita chips and musaka! We ended up getting some spinach/feta and beef/feta fratyier (spelling?). I am never ever disappointed when getting food here however this was my first time going in to the location and it definitely won't be my last!
5 out of 5 food and service! My wife and I moved from LA to the RVA area, and we’ve looking for authentic Mediterranean food and we found it! The baklava was the best I’ve ever had!
The worst food I ever tasted, purchased 3 sandwiches chicken and falafel. I threw them right away, bread very old, falafel tastes bad. Shawarma was discusting.
I know some people eat there for lunch, but my wife and I go weekly for take out for dinner and mezza for parties. Fresh and delicious food from kebobs to fataya to dolma. All kinds of other groceries. Palestinian Family owned and run for many years. Highly recomend.
Great spot for all the things you need. Great baked goods, the green beans were as good as anywhere. The stuffed grape leaves were amazing. Grab a little or grab a lot. You won't be disappointed.
