We went to Kanpai to celebrate my grandson's 16th birthday on July 21 2022. We were a party of 6 with reservations. One of the servers placed 10 menus on the table as we sat down. I looked at my family and wondered why so many menus when we were a party of 6 with reservations? I placed a bag with my grandson's presents on an empty chair next to me. The same server came over to me and demanded that I move the bag because she was seating 2 more people at our table. I was confused, (we are still in a pandemic). The mood of the evening changed! We were polite and had conversations with the 2 stangers although we felt very uncomfortable. We didn't mention anything at the time because we did not want to ruin my grandson's birthday celebration. This is a place he chose. He was excited to be with his family and NOT sharing a table with total strangers on his 16th birthday!! Is it because we are a black family so they put 2 people that are black to sit at our table. My daughter pointed out how they treated the white people sitting directly behind us. Waited on them like they were royalty. Well if they only knew that my family is of ROYALTY. WE WILL NEVER GIVE OUR MONEY TO THIS BUSINESS AGAIN!!!
Very good food and portions. The hibachi chef seemed a little distracted and rushed. The atmosphere is very nice. We had a family birthday there and the birthday boy was served fruit with an odd birthday song. Still, pretty nice.
Went for a surprise birthday party. The salad nor the soup were the best but everyone enjoyed their entrees. Steak, chicken and scallops were wonderful, shrimp were alright. Loved our chef and waitress. Woman at front could be a little better at speaking to customers. All in all we had a great time. Every table was packed and fun as their were several birthdays being celebrated.
the food was good enough but it was nothing exceptional and I expected better for the price. people in my party had been there before and said that it is usually better than what I experienced. the waitstaff was very friendly and on top of things
The service is hit or miss. Depending on the time you come (and I guess the person) you might get a well cooked meal and minor show, or you'll get the bare minimum. I don't usually have high expectations here, so a first-timer would be underwhelmed. The other tables might be entertaining though?
We had a party of three for a 7:30 dinner reservation. It was crowded, but the wait was not long.I'll compare it to other hibachi places we've visited. The soup was tastier than most; the salad distressingly similar.Showmanship was excellent. The fried rice was bland; the vegetables were very good. Between us, we had chicken, salmon, shrimp and steak (filet). All were very tender and juicy.Prices were a little high and I'm sure that they won't get any better. Service was adequate.

Terrible experience…after being seated tonight we waited for our chef for half an hour. The waitstaff was practically non-existent. I had to flag them down and even ask the host to send our server. Dishes/glasses were not cleared and drinks were not refilled. We had a party of 3 seated with our party of 5 and they complained about the terrible service too…a whole dinner with no refills. WOW! I was asked when I made the reservation if it was a special occasion and I said it was my wife’s birthday. After the ghostress took our checks I had to approach her and ask if they were doing the birthday song…no one told her. The chef was terrible, said bellow and that was IT! VERY boring and not the experience I paid for. They had the nerve to add $50 in gratuity when we had to chase waitstaff all night! $330 later we left full (food was tasty)and vowing never to go back. oOerall a VERY lackluster experience and NOT anywhere NEAR the service we have gotten there before. Too much money to get such little consideration and hospitality. Stay away!!!
