Stayed for one night on a stopover from FL to PA. A little out of my budget, but it has an outdoor pool which is what I wanted. There’s tabletop shuffleboard in the lobby area and a pool table. And giant Jenga. We were able to check in at 1pm. Dove toiletries in the bathroom, but tiny vanity. Upon checkin, I was told to park in the back bc there’s a door that leads right to the elevators. Well there’s steps inside that door, which was not conducive to my big rolling cooler and luggage and children. We only had 2 towels in a room for 4, so had to get more at front. There’s plenty of parking in the big lot on the side, which has flat access to the automatic lobby doors. Breakfast was more than I expected! Pancake maker, bacon, eggs, sausage, bagels, cinnamon rolls, muffins, coffee, tea, juice. Probably more that I’m forgetting. We filled up and didn’t need to eat on our 5-hour drive to our next hotel. I had a 1am wake up for my drive up there; so I was asleep by 7:30. Slept for about 11 hours, so the beds must be comfy. I did keep hearing noises that sounded like they were coming from the pool (we had a pool-view room), but must have been another room as the pool was empty. I would stay again when in the area if I wanted an outdoor pool. If no pool preference, I would stay somewhere cheaper, but I’m not picky (just need a clean bed).

The room was okay but there were no curtains on the window. This may not be a big deal for some but it really messes with my sleep. I like it to be dark when I sleep and the ambient light coming in was significant. I use black out curtains at home.\\n\\nThe check in process was painfully slow. It looked like they only ever had 1 person working the front desk. The front desk staff was friendly but they moved slow.\\n\\nBreakfast was good.\\n\\nThe building was okay but could stand to be updated.\\n\\nOverall I'd probably stay there again due to the price point. It was about $100 less per night compared to what I would consider the next tier of hotels.
My husband and I stay a night here at this hotel one night on our way back through town to rest from a long drive. At 1:00 a.m he woke up to use the restroom and notice a bug on his bed sheet. He inspected it and come to realize it was a bed bug. I didn’t find out this info until the next morning. He said he couldn’t bring his self to tell me because he knew I would be frightened and upset. I reported it to front desk she said she would relay info to her manager. I called general manager no answer so I left him a detailed message he never returned my call. I usually don’t do reviews but I feel like if you can ignore my call I can let the people know THAT BED BUGS BREED AT YOUR ESTABLISHMENT.
This hotel gets a mixed review from me, for sure. First of all, this is an older property that has likely been renovated many times over the years. As such, the layout befits an older property, and it doesn't always line up with modern expectations, such as stairs' going directly outside rather than to the lobby. However, that can't really be changed too much without tearing down the facility and building a new one, so I feel as though it would be unfair to ding them over that. Similarly, the elevators were being renovated while we were staying there, and this limited the elevators' capacity, as only one (of two total) was available during our stay. This is a temporary inconvenience and necessary work, so I'm giving them a bye on that work.As far as our room went, I took no issue with it. It was clean, it had adequate lighting, and the beds were comfortable. The breakfast service was about what you would expect for a Holiday Inn Express. Nothing too fancy, but not terrible, either. My only complaint was that the warming units that the food sat in continuously made contact with the sneeze guard, which made for a frustrating experience (feeling like you need three hands to serve yourself). That could probably be remedied easily enough if someone cared enough to do it.The parking and access situation, however, was unacceptable. The parking lot is on the back side of the building. This stems from the property's being very old, so I'm not willing to ding them for that on its own, as there is an entrance to the lobby on the parking lot side. However, I will ding them for how access to the parking lot is handled late at night. After 11 PM, the doors facing the parking lot are locked, and there is no access allowed through that door, with all entering and exiting being done via the door next to the front desk. The door to the parking lot also has a sign posted on it when the doors are locked stating as such, and threatening immediate removal from the property should the doors be opened during those hours. That means that in order to access the lot, you have to walk completely around the outside of the building. To add insult to injury, there is a card access box that allows access to be limited to only registered guests, but the doors are locked in such a way as to bypass the card access system. The staff said that this was due to a problem with homeless trying to sleep in the hotel's lobby, but inconveniencing paying guests is no way to do it.All in all, I suppose that this isn't a bad place based on the price and the location, but I'm not inclined to stay again, as the inconveniences outweighed the positives.
This place is AWESOME ?‼️ I live in Norfolk,Va. but travel within the state occasionally & this past weekend we went to the 804 {Richmond,Va.}. There’s a desk attendant named Melanie ? she was VERY helpful, polite, and made us feel very welcomed & gave us a nice room at a reasonable price and was attentive to every need. I will definitely return & this is probably gonna be the only place I will stay?‼️ Even got rewards that allow u to sleep in & check out at 1pm.. Melanie complimented my wife continuously & even helped us with ideas on places to eat, visit or just general directions. Thank you Melanie ? & shout out to the 804. See you soon Richmond ?

I was visiting some friends who were staying at this hotel, and I was blown away by the unprofessionalism in their policies. The hotel’s main parking lot is positioned behind the hotel. That’s fine and well, but they have the door locked that goes out to the parking lot after 11 PM meaning you’re expected to walk all the way around the hotel and go in through the front. So my friends had to walk all the way around this dark hotel on a cold and windy night through a sketchy abandoned pool deck to the front door. What adds insult to injury is the back door has provisions to only open to registered guests with keys, the hotel just chooses to make their guests go through this unnecessary rigmarole because they don’t trust their access control system. What’s even funnier (or sadder, depending on how you look at it) is the side doors (which provide less visibility to front desk staff) allow access with your hotel key. There is not a single reason for this draconian policy making guests walk all the way around to the front. The icing on the cake is the threat that messing with the locks (ie, you’re trying to leave the hotel and you would rather use the posted fire exit than walk all the way around) will get you thrown out. With threats like this, you are taking the high brow hotel you’re trying to be and pushing it down to sketchy low brow territory.
Clean hotel with friendly staff. However, I requested some maintenance for my bathroom that never materialized after 2 nights at the hotel. This was very disappointing.Another disappointing thing was breakfast service. The pancake dispenser ran out of batter 15 minutes before closing time. When we asked for another bag of batter to make pancakes, the attendants wouldn't add more and stated that it was close to the closing time for breakfast service and refused. It takes all of one minute to add the batter mixer to the machine and rolling pin! As long as the customer is in the breakfast area before closing, all food should be available unless the items run out.The other hot breakfast items were good, plentiful, and fresh. No complaints about the breakfast items but we weren't happy to be denied a food offering because the staff may have been focused on cleaning up and finishing their shift for the day.All in all, my stay was very good and I'd stay there again if I'm ever in Richmond. The hotel rooms are clean, with some remodeling of the hotel within the last month or so. The lobby/lounge area is great with lots of chairs and Tv's.
if you want to hate your soul when you are traveling then this is the spot for you.I would like to start by saying, this was my fourth hotel in two weeks. When we arrived at the hotel we were greeted by the front desk. I believe they assumed that we knew the details of the hotel...like where to park or where the elevators are. After we sorted the details out we went to our floor. The wait for the elevator was long due to one broken elevator, the hotel was full by the way...but knowing how short staffed the country currently is. We patiently waited. We got to the room, Kicked our shoes off got ready to plop on the bed for that glorious feeling of relief only to step on what we believe to be fecal matter....we removed our socks and threw them away washed our feet and contacted the front desk.. the clerk at the desk did not skip a beet, she had us go back down to the lobby waiting for the one broken elevator. did not apologize and sent us back up to another floor. We went upstairs to settle in again, we stepped out to grab dinner and came back to what seemed to be a frat party in the lobby. The hotel was in ciaos. Ruckus all night, no sleep...I spoke with the front desk. Ask for the manager to call me. No call, I waited three days, called the call center two weeks ago.. still no word.Save yourself the misery and pass on this one.
