Wow. I've been coming here since it opened, since I live one block away. I didn't know I would be coming here so often as part of my routine. The staff who work here are always friendly and when they started to recognize me as a regular it was pretty cool. This is a bittersweet review as I am moving tomorrow as of writing this, and I won't be able to come back unless, for some reason, I'm back in this area of Richmond in the future. The food here is really good. The burgers, the sandwiches, the fried, cheese covered shrimp, everything. My go-to for meals was the chicken skewers, rice, and papaya salad at "The Royal Pig"- shout outs to the guys that work there for sure.Hatch Local is nothing but smiling faces and great food. Every personality here is great and ordering via kiosk is quick and easy. It's a shame that there's nothing like this around where I'm moving to, but maybe one day they'll expand. I'd love that.I wish you guys nothing but love and support! Thanks for the wonderful food and service I've received over the last few months.
My personal favorite spot is the Beet Box, on some days I prefer this location to the Cary St one if I am just picking up and in a rush, otherwise I like to visit the other location to chat with the owner and staff. Convenient spot and friendly people, also visited Fat Kid Sandwiches and was not disappointed in the least, fantastic sandwich.
Overall, very nice set up. Food was good at buttermilk and honey and also bully burger. The drinks at the bar are expensive. Some food vendors have over priced food, like the taco spot. 1 taco for $5 is insane.
We have been to some very cool Food Halls in the world so we were super excited to hear about this one. Unfortunately, this place disappoints. The sandwich at Fat Kids was super small and tasted like it was warmed up in a microwave for $14. The chicken sandwich from Buttermilk and Honeyn was good but also pricey. Bar drinks were insanely expensive. Service was just meh. The concept is good, but they did not execute well. Go to Medellin, Colombia to see an amazing Food Hall with live music, tons more options, excellent food and amazing service. This Food Hall just felt like a money grab for mediocre food being served by disengaged people.
Enjoyed the food, but way too expensive. I’m really happy that there’s now another new place to eat in the neighborhood. The atmosphere is good at Hatch: bright, open, lots of natural light, and though it’s always busy, so far we’ve never had a hard time finding a place to sit. I’ve liked everything I’ve eaten there; the coffee is even quite nice. My only complaint is that it is incredibly expensive. I had a small crab cake sandwich with two slices of American cheese and sauce on a toasted bun for $17! Just the sandwich, no side, nothing. It was a great sandwich, but I can’t pay that price again.
I’ve gone to their Hatch Kitchen location and had some great meals. Been following the food hall project on Instagram for a while and was really excited for this fun new addition to Richmond’s food scene. I’m open to new concepts evolving, but for now I’m really disappointed. The Bad:- Prices are outrageous. I’ve eaten all around the city and had plenty of overpriced meals, but for what you are getting it’s insulting. Portions are on par with a food truck (or smaller), but prices seem $3-5 more than your average food truck. And it’s not like the food is a cut above, it’s identical to what I would get from a food truck. And hey, I like food trucks, and I’m used to paying the higher cost to support a small local kitchen, but here it’s just too much. Royal Pig has a steak dish that is $18!- Water stations: there aren’t any. Again, the whole place feels like a cash grab, there’s water bottles and beverages for sale. I ended up asking for tap water from a vendor, but if you’re gonna do this concept you need accessible water and not feel like you’re asking a favor every time you need some water.- The food was nothing special. I got Royal Pig and I’ve really like their noodle pop ups. The Char Sui pork dish was way too salty, and crazy heavy on the spicy peppers (thus the water situation). For now, I probably won’t be going back. If I hear the prices have come down a little I might give it another try, but there’s plenty of other great food around that I don’t feel compelled to return just to be disappointed again.
What we needed in the area! Tried Buttermilk + Honey's OG chicken sandwich with fries for the first time. The portion size was very filling. Would have liked the sandwich to be a little less greasy (personal preference) but other than that chef's kiss. Clean atmosphere, no wait in line and accommodating staff. The price is pricey; however it's to be expected these days. Regardless, I will return and try more places here!
Went to Buttermilk + Honey and the chicken on my sandwich was pretty big and it tasted great. Nice and crispy and the fries were good too. The other places looked good so will have to try something new next time. For a places that offeres can and bottle drinks why isn't there a recycling can though.
Came by on opening day and just want to say I’m super stoked to have them next door! So many options for delicious eats and all unique in their own way. I had Buttermilk + Honey and their chicken is just THE best.
Great new food hall in Manchester. Relaxed and well designed style with a range of food options: sandwiches, burgers, tacos, smoothies, and more. There’s also a coffee and cocktail bar. It was pretty busy for lunch on Saturday with limited indoor seating but when the weather is warmer people can sit outside as well.
