Incredible food! Love looking at the art as well. But the food… damn! I went again for Mother’s Day with my kids (so we went early before bar crowd came in) because I wanted everyone to eat without complaining and this fit the bill. You have to order your food at the bar now, but staff was quick and efficient with it. Everyone was happy!
Was excited to go here because of Gwar and also the vegan options. Love the atmosphere, but the food was sadly underwhelming. I got a friend tofu sandwich with buffalo sauce, but the tofu was basically a hunk of uncooked, unseasoned tofu with a thin layer of crisp on the outside. Please rethink how you cook that--vegans like spice and flavor too ;p
I tried Vegan food for the first time and I didn’t turn into a total pussy. The fried cauliflower with motor breath sauce was worthy and my build your own Max & Cheese was I dare say the best Mac I’ve ever had. Non Stop Metal and Punk rock music jamming through the house speakers. As a loyal scum dog, when in Richmond it’s a must. \m/
One of my go to spots in the neighborhood. The food is always delicious. Everyone is welcoming and kind.
I've actually never been there, I always order delivery which I feel kind of bad about because man oh man. This might be the best burger in Richmond. It's also one of the few places that actually is willing to make a rare burger, and it's always so good I could cry. Also, any place that offers fries OR tots is a winner in my book. Absolutely love this place, will keep re-ordering and hopefully visit in person soon.
My first time at GWARbar was pretty killer. I'm not a huge fan of the band, so never made it a priority to come here, and I now recognize that mistake. If you are a metal fan at all, you need to soak in the experience for yourself. The decor is over the top in a good way, everywhere you look there is some metal paraphernalia, mannequin body parts doused in blood, etc. I immediately felt at home. The music was diehard true metal cuts, I heard songs I loved by Priest and Maiden, and some new discoveries I immediately looked up on my phone to purchase. The food is above average bar food, unique takes on burgers and apps, I had the poutine burger which was huge and delicious. They even cooked it properly when I said PINK! Decent selection of beer, friendly staff, the works. I will be making this a regular stop from now on!
Definitely unique!! Food was amazing, Drinks were cold & good. Staff & customers were so friendly & upbeat. I loved it for my first time! Will be back again!!

Kids were playing volleyball at a tournament at the convention center. I had a 2.5 hour gap and wanted to see something unique. Wow, this was a surprise. I arrived right when they opened and had the place to myself. The staff were very friendly and the food was great. Prices were fair and it was clean. Saw families with kids which is fine.
Service was great considering one person was operating the bar and running food to tables. The food, in the other hand, absolutely nothing special. I ordered the Carolina Seitan and it had such a strange aftertaste I had to force myself to finish it. Everything else my table ordered (fries, tater tots, burgers, chips & salsa) were no different than anything you would find in a school cafeteria.
