Ordered yams and cabbage, but received Mac & cheese that looked and tasted more like noodle and melted cheese, no milk no seasoning. And the yams were sweet and tasty but half of the sweet potatoes were uncooked. (The uncooked sweet potatoes are pictured) It was very disappointing.

Okay , This is my favorite Soul food restaurant. The food is absolutely wonderful ! All of it. No complaints here. Amazing staff, I give the good a 10 ++++. Sincerely, A Customer for life. The Mac and Cheese, the cornbread, the cabbage, those wings, the crab cakes, Lord, That Catfish, I can’t go on. I’m on my way there right NOW ! Lol. No disappointments here ???

Awesome soul food. I had the Jumbo Chicken wing dinner with Collard Greens and Mac and Cheese. My homeboy got the fried pork chops and those were good too. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. I willd definitely make my way back here when I'm in the area.

Uncle Reggie was amazing!! He worked alone and was really friendly and quick. He made sure we were taken care of. I would highly recommend his wings and ribs! Came from Portland Oregon and haven’t tasted chicken well seasoned like that before.

If you love soul food this place is amazing. Great quantity of food, well worth the price, and the food is amazing ???. And the service is so warm and pleasant. So if you hungry I suggest head here.

My Granddaughter did her reveal at Family Secrets 4 yr ago for her College pick. Today we celebrated her Graduation from ODU, Bachelors of Human Services at Family Secrets. 4 yrs ago they Welcomed our Big Family. The Customer service was Speculator and the food was so Good. Today it remains the same, Food was Delicious. Customer service was Amazing. Highly recommended this place. The crabcakes, fish, chicken, shrimp and cabbage was seasoned and on point.

So happy we found this place on a whim. We always try to visit the “popular” soul food restaurants when we come down to Richmond area from Northern VA; you know, the Mama J’s, Croaker Spot, etc, but that wait is ALWAYS an easy hour or more. Not today!I did a trusty Google search, saw the 4.5 stars ?, a couple pictures of the fried chicken and made the trip.Came in just about 3:30 pm on a Saturday afternoon. More than a few tables were open, the space is not much to look at, but it was clean and the music playlist was old school R&B❤️The pictures will speak for themselves… Hubby and I got the wings and fish. Two big wing pieces and two large pieces of fish (I got whiting, he got catfish). Delicious. The kids got the jumbo wings with fries and the fish sandwich.Everything was hot, fresh and crispy. Huge portions, so much so that we literally could only finish half. Oh and the cornbread was super moist and soft! I love a good cornbread. Not to mention our waitress (Adriane, I believe), was fantastic! She was quick and had a great attitude. Loved the friendly sports talk too!I’ll take Family Secrets over Mama J’s any day!

This place felt like home. Good music that make you go "what you know about that‽‽‽"The fried chicken was on point. The Mac n cheese and cabbage did the trick as well. I wish they gave more Mac n cheese but that's me being greedy. Overall very filling and not a pocket killer. Definitely needed a nap after all that good food. Very friendly folks that look out for you when you come dine-in. I definitely will be coming back.

The owner and staff were very warm and friendly. The food was delicious and had a homemade taste. So good, it cause you to lock your fingers and lips. I will definitely go back the next time we're in the city and state.

Very short on staff but the food good you going to wait atleast a hour for your food even if you call ahead
