Can't go wrong here! Mr. Croaker had great taste in all things food! If you want excellent seafood and more than you can ea with great ambiance, this is your classy little spot! Excellent friendly service, sweetest waitress and pure deliciousness! Best cornbread we've had, best grits, and the sautéed shrimp and grits gravy could be poured on anything and everything. Po boy flavor was awesome, two cheese fishboat was yummy, and shrimp grits good too! We even got cake for the road. Perfect stop on our girl's roadtrip!!!

There were very few customers present, but the staff kept saying that they would not seat us until our entire party was present. (It was about a 16 person group or so, and we did not have an exact count of attendees.) Finally we just told them we were all there, and then just added a couple of chairs for late arrivals. They were out of some food items, and I was unable to order my preferred meal. Blue Moon draft was $6 each, which is a bit expensive. Their cornbread is absolutely out of this world. If you visit, you MUST taste this item! They also charged a standard 18% gratuity because of the size of our group. (I do not have a problem with this practice, but I typically tip between 20-25% - except when I am told exactly what to tip. They got 18% because that's what they asked for.) In the end, one meal with two draft beers and mandatory gratuity was $72. I left over half of my food on the plate - not because it was bad (far from it!), but because it was simply too much. There need to be smaller portion options at a reduced price.

It was about 8:45 pm and I was hesitant to go inside because I thought maybe it was too late since they closed at 9, but a lady outside assured me that I was welcome to come in with my family of 4 and I received a booth immediately! I was not at all rushed to order and was even given the opportunity to change my order to something more interesting that was recommended by my server. I can tell you that I would highly recommend based off the service but the food was great as well and hot, I still received a well put together meal!

1st time. A soul food restaurant. I wasn't expecting the large corn bread that had a warm Carmel sauce it was good. A lot of food price wasn't too high. I have mixed feelings. Food was warm vs. Bubbling hot. Cheese grits was strangly plated it was plated in a tight mold design topped with cheese. It wasn't smooth and creamy hot. The cheese top didn't melt. Cabbage was favorable. Stuff flounder with crab meat didn't have enough flavor again came out fast but wasn't hot. It could be my preference but i prefer food that should be hot throughout piping hot. Its a very popular spot. We came and checked it off our list. .I gave my light and fair review. But, It's one that I would say try for self. I like soul food but is not my 1st choice I'll eat maybe 3xs a yrs. But I do know how it should taste soo.

I knew that I wanted to try this eatery while I was visiting my son's girlfriend...and I am so glad that I went to Croakers Spot, a cute lil storefront, music jamming, w/a full bar sitting on the corner (that seems to be my reasoning for going out to eat lately...it has to have a bar :-)). We ordered fish, mac n cheese, shrimp n grits, cabbage, greens, cornbread and IT WAS ALL DELICIOUS. They give you huge pieces of fish with a sauce topped with onions & peppers. That was a different way of eating fish, but I enjoyed it.Staff were friendly, food was great, and the experience was wonderful...coming from a very picky eater. My only negative about this place is the price to pay to eat is ridiculous here. It was only 2 of us & they automatically added gratuity, when I asked the waiter about it he blatantly said those are other fees added on - yea, ok! But our bill was way over $100 & I'm sure it's because I also ordered food to go as well, but it was waaaay over $100.I'll drive 2 hrs just to eat here though.

Tlmy wife an i had the ultimate seafood platter. 3 pieces of catfish, 4 scallops 4 shrimp 2 crab cake medallions. Sides of rice. Cheese grits, cabbage and red potatoes. Oh and 2 big squares of corn bread. All the seafood was fried and tasted great! Corn bread was sweat and delicious. For dessert we had the bread pudding with lemon sauce. My wife has had bread pudding all over the world and this was just ok. Lots of raisins and she doesn't like raisins that much. Waiter was nice and gave us the dessert for free. Overall a good experience. Will return in the future!

I'm currently leaving the hull st. Location unhappy. I drive over an hour to support the establishment. We waited approximately 30 to be seated, no problem. However after being seated and placing our order we waited an hour for our food. We received a 20% discount but only on one entree when we received them at the same time. I paid my $103 bill as well as a tip and asked to speak to the manager but was again asked to wait. I just felt that more could've been done to make me feel better about our wait. The food was up to standard as always.

I so wanted to give this place a better review. The food was tasty and plentiful. No one in my group was able to finish their meal. Loved the art and music. However, the waitresses buss tables and deliver food to the tables and weren't washing their hands in between. And the prices have really increased since my last visit. I mean $8.50 to add chicken to a Caesar salad. Crazy. And for these prices their tables were ugly and my chair was shaky. ? Just a couple things to fix before they are top tier.Automatic gratuity of $11 on my ticket for only 2 people. My friends $ 11. My other friend $4. So on a table of 5 people the restaurant got $26 in gratuity. WOW!Not returning.

This BEST meal my wife and I had since we moved back to the states!!

This place is located a bit off the usual tourist path, but was the best find on my recent visit to Richmond, Virginia. I tried seafood at a couple of other places. It was a lot more expensive but not southern in style and less satisfying. And the price was a lot more. Our food arrived piping hot, with a delicate onion cream sauce accompanied our baked whitefish fillets. The vegetables were simple and tasty. There was a wedge of fresh made cornbread included with the dish. Try the sweet butter sauce with it. Our server suggested it and it was as unique in taste as it was delicious. Outstanding! Dishes are cooked to order, expect to wait 20-30min for your meal. The service was professional and a service charge may be added to your bill for the server. If so, no additional tip is needed. The dining room was pleasant, friendly and reflects the local community. It’s a family friendly place.
