My husband and I just finished lunch at Coppola’s and we both said “why haven’t we eaten here before?” The sandwiches were absolutely fantastic. He had The Industrial and I had the honey turkey. Both were served warm on freshly baked bread. I have to say based on the food and the steady stream of customers this is THE BEST SANDWICH PLACE IN RICHMOND. They have made fans out of us. Not only did we have sandwiches, but we shared the Italian Oreo which was absolutely delicious. This is sacrilegious to say …. Since I grew up in a Sicilian family, but the cannoli filling was creamier than my family’s cannoli filling. If you haven’t gone to Coppolas then you are truly missing out. Added bonus:: The gentleman behind the counter is so nice welcoming and friendly— what more could you want!
Coppola's Deli is a Richmond staple, nestled right next to the Byrd Theater in the middle of Carytown. I've been eating here since high school in the late 00s, though sadly less frequently since I've moved up to Nova. I went here with my parents this past Father's Day and got the Cheese Colombo which was incredibly good. I got it with the optional grilled eggplant which I thought enhanced the already amazing flavor of the sandwich. Highly recommend the Cheese Colombo fo lr anyone wanting to try something different, but you can't really go wrong with any of their sandwiches.
coppola's rules. everyone knows this. best sandwiches in town.however can i request a sandwich offered as a special be brought back? it was an overcast sunday afternoon in fall 2011 and it was call the steak plissken. i have no idea what was on it but it was incredible. thanks!
I visited Coppolas Deli midweek after lunch last time I was in Richmond. I absolutely loved it and would definitely recommend. It's a classic deli, above the counter is a board with all their sandwich varieties and deli options such as purchasing meats by the pound. My favorite sandwich and what I feel is the true test of a deli as a classic Italian sub. Out of the options I chose the Industrial, an Italian Hero w/ salami, mortadella, and capicola. It includes provolone, onions, peppers, lettuce, tomato, with oil and vinegar. It's served up hot, and I'd say the serving is between 8-10", a decent size sub for $12. It tasted great, exactly what you'd expect. I'd definitely order this again, but next time will explore some of the other menu options. Service was fast and friendly.
I'd like to say that Coppolas holds a lot of nostalgia for my family & myself . I have many fond memories of this deli that I've visited for almost 20 years .I visited yesterday with my son for lunch . I was shocked at the prices increases 26$+ for two subs w/ NO drinks or chips & the small portions that are sloppily put together . No longer on my recommended list .
This was our first visit. The sandwiches were great and there is a ton to choose from. The potato salad was also really good.
Deli classics in a tiny little corner store. the one god thing about the pandemic is more outdoor seating and they have a lot more tables outside have they used to, which is fun. You order, grab your drink and then they find you with your food.
Still really good after all these years, lots of outdoor seating, classic deli good people watching
Not your typical deli. Their menu offers many unique sandwich combinations in addition to other items. Small store with only 4 tables and some stools. Well worn interior. Only street parking in a crowded area. Sandwiches we had were on delicious baguette bread, but I was disappointed that my Italian sausage sandwich did not come as a link, but cut into many slices.
This is an Italian deli, not a Jewish deli. Small restaurant with only seating for about 12 people. Unique sandwich combinations and some other dishes. Our sandwiches were served on excellent baguette bread. Disappointed my Italian sausage sandwich was not served as a link but in many slices. Only street parking in a crowded area.
