My husband and I decided to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary at Bookbinder’s. The food is excellent and the service was great!

I went to bookbinders to celebrate my birthday. The hostess was dismissive and the food was not good. My party was already seated by the time I arrived, so I told the hostess my party was already seated somewhere. She asked for my name and then pointed in the direction of another room and said, “your party is over there.” I walked into the room and couldn’t find anyone I knew. I went back to the hostess and told her my group was not in that room. She then looked up my name and seat and walked me to the table (not sure why she couldn’t have done that from the start). I ordered the scallop risotto for dinner. The risotto was undercooked and under seasoned. The scallops were inconsistently cooked. Some were seared on both sides, some were seared on one side. The mashed potatoes appeared to be microwaved. The bacon bits in the baked potato looked like the dehydrated bacon bits you buy in the salad dressing aisle of the supermarket. As for the ambiance, the room we were seated in had two sets of French doors on each side of the room. They kept the doors closed. Every time a server came in, they opened the doors and then shut them. It was quite disruptive for the meal. For the price of the food, I expected to by blown away. Overpriced for what you get and low quality food.

My wife and I traveled to Richmond for our anniversary and having done some research decided to go to Bookbinders for our special dinner. I made reservations and was encouraged when they reached out to me for our names so they could print them on a special anniversary menu. Was greeted there with a "happy anniversary" and taken to our table. It looked like the perfect place to celebrate our 37th anniversary. We ordered some drinks and an appetizer. They brought the appetizer but no plates. So, we used our bread plates. Soon, they took away the appetizer plate and our bread plates and we sat, and sat. I finally waived our waiter and asked if they served bread. He said, "oh yeah" and in a few minutes brought some bread but, no bread plates. Needless to say, this was the quality of the service for the remainder of the meal. They had an issue with the ventilation which filled the restaurant with smoke. We waited forever to get our food and when we did get it they messed up the order and I got a medium rare filet and my wife got a medium well NY strip. Mine should have been medium well and the wife's should have been medium rare. Since it took so long to get out food, we didn't send them back. We got our desert to go. The food was very good and I probably wouldn't complain so much about the service had our waiter not been overly attentive to a nearby table. With a tab north of $300, I would have expected better. We will not return.

Absolutely everything was perfect - outstanding wait staff. Food was cooked to perfection (Surf & Turf) - lobster and filet mignon with dee-licious bernaise sauce. The creamed corn au gratin was THE best - so very good. And the ambience of the beautiful patio - liked no other. Private, quiet and beautiful with the most fabulous antique brick walls, gorgeous plants, beautiful koi pond, tables nicely spaced apart - all white table cloths and napkins. Lovely lights strung across for nice lighting. A wonderful evening.

The service was great. We sat in the Presidents Room which was a room filled with the pictures of all the US Presidents and about 8-10 tables (maybe). We ordered the double cut pork chop and sea bass. Which were very underwhelming (especially considering the cost). We ordered shrimp scampi which was only 3 shrimp for $20. Our appetizer was the fried calamari . It was ok but we’ve had much better countless times for less money. We only drank water ( not because we’re cheap, we just prefer water). Nevertheless, the bill was $150 for underwhelming food. The bread was good:). We wouldn’t go back.

Customer service along with the food was outstanding! Their drinks was also great! Highly recommend!

Excellent service, delicious entrées with great ambience. Always a great experience.

Amazing staff and amazing service. Food was top notch. Can't wait to go again!

Our anniversary dinner was amazing from the time we walked into the restaurant and the hostess wished us a "Happy Anniversary". The food and drinks were on point but the service was commendable. We will be back for sure!

No waiting; we were seated immediately. The wait staff was superb and the food was among the best I’ve eaten. They helped us celebrate our anniversaries and we couldn’t be more pleased. We will definitely return!
