Not that I haven’t had reason to – in my more than three decades on this earth, I have dealt with people and companies at every level of competence and ethical behavior, from genuine heroes to junkyard dogs. Lately, for whatever reason, I seem to be running into more of the latter… a lot more… which makes those occasions when I have a positive experience all the more impressive. Good burgers. My kids like these burgers over Bobby Flay’s burgers, but I prefer the latter. Great burger over Sonoma bowl, and also they gave me a military discount. Quick and attentive servers. Sloppy paint job on the chalkboard wall though. ? love downtown Reston; going back again. ????
We ate here for lunch on a Saturday and it was delicious just like we remembered from pre-pandemic times. Nashville chicken sandwich and BLT-A sandwiches were great. Parmesan fries are so good. We got an order of shoestring fries and Parmesan fries not knowing that Parmesan fries are actually shoestring with parm on top, so next time we will just get the parm.Photo here is of my custom order shake- brownie, caramel, peanut butter, graham cracker.
Burger was good, the service was too. I have seen several negative reviews lately but my experience was positive.
I don't know how this place is rated so highly. Even for the cheap price point, there are many better options elsewhere. For a burger joint, I'd expect better than a frozen grade patty. My wife also ordered a chicken bacon club, but it didn't come with any bacon. The parm cheese fries we ordered came with a clump of cheese microwaved(?) on top. Service was decent, but nothing can cover for the appalling food quality. 3/10 at least we didn't get food poisoning.
Went here with a few friends for a birthday celebration. The food was delicious and fast, the server was so nice! He heard it was my birthday and gave me a birthday shake and was very attentive to us while we were there. I will definitely go back and know the others will too.
Great food, amazing fries, chill environment. Always a pleasure no matter time of day.

The Counter used to be the place to go for a good delicious burger. However, now it is anything but that. My burger was raw, the bun of the burger fell off the plate and onto the table when the food runner brought the food and there was no apology or recognition of mistake. The service was also extremely disappointing. While I understand the struggle of staffing nowadays, our server was loudly complaining to patrons in the restaurant how she didn't want to be there since it was her "day off".
My family and I have been going to The Counter for years and it’s so sad to see how bad this place has gotten. From the quality of food to the general experience (customer service, staff, drink variety, etc). Got the Juicy Lucy yesterday and the cheese wasn’t melted? They changed the parm fries and the bathroom was dirty. Sad to say we will not be returning after being loyal customers for 6 years.
