My family and I visited this restaurant for the first time as my brother was staying in the hospital just down the street for surgery. Overall, the experience was incredibly average. The food while in a solid abundance for the price was not particularly flavorful but was not bad either. Likely to cater to the at least from my experience elderly clientele, I’d imagine things aren’t seasoned too heavily to keep complaints low. In any case, the fried chicken that I personally ordered was decent. The crispness was present but ultimately lacked any seasoning other than likely just salt and pepper. Thankfully there was hot sauce on the table to rectify this. In addition, the service was a bit slow. Our waitress came to our table a whopping three times during our entire visit. Granted, the place was busy it still should be appreciated if the wait staff actually came and checked on things such as drinks during the meal instead of immediately afterwards while you are paying. My final criticism comes from the size of the booth tables. It’s just not comfortable in any way for four people to sit at. Personally, I’d probably not return just because it was just an overwhelmingly average experience
Excellent local “hole in the wall” place. I had the all beef hot dogs one day and the fried chicken the next. The wait staff are totally awesome and make it feel like home. They truly make this a go to place.
I Love this place!! The name suits it well, has that down home feel..The food is great at very affordable prices. The service is wonderful too!! Always friendly, attentive and very polite. Side note, I apologize for not knowing who does this to give proper kudos to, but there's a girl who makes beautiful jewelry there that sells at the register counter so anyone who dines here should definitely give it a look! I've bought several beautiful pieces myself!
Friendly family type restaurant. Food was good. Service was good. Oh, the pancakes were so big! Good too!

Very disappointed! I ordered 3 french toast meals and spent almost $30. I got back to my office and opened my box and seen that there was NO CINNAMON on/in my order. So at this point it's just egg bread. I asked for it to be switched to pancakes and the owner refused and said I got what I paid for. I would have to pay for my meals all over again if I wanted to switch from French toast to pancakes because there was no cinnamon listed on the menu. Well cinnamon is an ingredient and wouldn't be listed on the menu. The OWNER WAS RUDE AND made MY EXPERIENCE HORRIBLE! I work for the City and I always like going to "in house" establishments but people like the owner for HOMETOWN DINER MAKES IT VERY HARD! I just wished she would have been more understanding! IF YOU DECIDE TO VISIT THIS ESTABLISHMENT PLEASE AND I MEAN PLEASE ASK WHAT INGREDIENTS COME IN EVERYTHING! Thats like ordering fried chicken but because the ingredient flour isn't listed on the menu you will not get it!! I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE IF YOU HAVE A TASTE FOR A CERTAIN THING BECAUSE YOU WILL BE DISAPPOINTED!The French toast pic is from there (looks like fried bread) ?♀️
I had the bacon cheddar burger with green beans instead of fries. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and they answered all my questions about their onions (cdc recall for salmonella) I love that i could get my burger with onions and the quality of the burger is great. Its a little pink like i like it and all the fixings with plenty of lettuce?. My only gripe were the green beans. I really wanted to like them but they were stringy? i don't know if they just weren't shucked properly or something but every other bite was all strings and no bean making it impossible to swallow. All in all i give 5 stars because they are a neighborhood staple. Although i was apprehensive to visit previous years- i felt welcomed when i finally visited. Its good eating?
I love this place! The waitresses are all awesome.The food is good, filling, and always a good price! My only complaint is that they close to early!!
