We saw an amazing matinee today, Every Brilliant Thing. It was an intimate setting on the stage with audience participation. What a moving story narrated by the main character. It hit on depression and mental illness while being humorous and sweet. It brought good attention to the subject of mental illness and they had a panel discussion afterwards if audience members wanted to discuss the topic after the show. It was sponsored by Sentara. I'm so proud of this partnership and the discussion that was sparked today. We need more mental health services for children and adults and this was a great method to raise awareness. Thank you!

The show I saw there was amazing deserved 5 stars (dreamgirls). However the inside of the theater is so hot like it's ridiculous. I almost passed out watching the show, on top of that they make you wear a mask the entire time. It is so hard to enjoy the show in those conditions. Besides the temperature everything else was great. The seats are close to the stage so no matter where you sit not really a bad seat in the house.

Nice theater! The acoustics work very well since is not massive in size. Friendly staff! Definitely worth it every time!

This was my first time at the Wells Theater it is gorgeous! I would highly recommend going here at least once. Beautiful stage.

We have been coming to Wells Theatre for 20+ years since I was a young child. In the 20+ years we have been coming here we have never been treated so poorly. On 12/23/21, we came to see a Christmas Carol and we were abruptly told at the front door that we must present proof of COVID vaccination. This was NEVER communicated to ticker holders. This was a half-a**ed policy they recently came up with, NOT because the Governor of Virginia required it, but because the elites of Wells Theatre and the Virginia Stage Company decided what was best for the patrons and families who support their theatre. We bought our tickets BEFORE Thanksgiving, and at no time were we notified of having to prove vaccination status upon entry to the theatre. So today, on 12/23/21, when theatre personnel demanded to see my family’s proof of vaccination, we were all blindsided by the request. We are ALL vaccinated (we are not anti-Vaxers…), but only one person in our family actually had their vaccine card on them. The rest of us, who most of us are from out of town, did not. Despite us all being vaccinated, Wells Theatre prevented us from seeing our favorite Christmas show due to their hardline stance they are VOLUNTARILY taking for admission procedures (again, NOT because the state is requiring these stringent policies).I hate to end such a long standing, fun family tradition, but unfortunately due to the way we were treated and the abysmal lack of communication from Wells Theatre/Virginia Stage Company, our 24 year tradition of coming to the Wells Theatre has come to an end.RIP Wells Theatre 1997-2021

It's and old fashion historic theater. I have had seats in the orchestra, mezzanine and boxes. Not bad view to be found. Enjoy my experiences.

Small venue and cast. Beautiful historic building.. Inside and out. They put on a fantastic show.

No bad seat in this theater! Beautiful architect!

Beautiful 100+ year-old theatre which reminded me of Broadway venues. We enjoyed two plays there in November

Great theater. The Earth Remembers was an awesome show
