This morning my family had a horrible experience with this diner. My partner who is African American walked in first holding our baby boy and I walked behind him. As we were waiting to be seated the waitress comes around the corner and stared at my partner and child with complete disgust for an uncomfortable 5-10 seconds until I spoke up and said it will be 2 adults and the baby. She points at a booth and said “sit there”. We walked to the booth but I’m not the type to spend money in an establishment that hires racist waitresses. I told my family we were leaving and my partner was relieved I was there to see her treatment. We were both very angry leaving that place and let me be clear there was no confusing the way she looked at my family. It was utter disgust. Please spend your money elsewhere.
I live in Newport News and was catching a flight out of Norfolk. We didn't want to get stuck in the tunnel traffic so we decided to eat at this restaurant that my friend found. So glad she found this place Best corned beef hash I've ever had portions were great, my friend had the chip beef She said that was delicious. I'm heading to Norfolk airport soon and will be stopping by again bringing my daughter. Hope the experience is just as good as the experience I had the first time
I got the sausage gravy biscuits and yummy in my tummy. The biscuits were nice and fluffy without being hard on the bottom. Sausage was cooked and added to the gravy which made it really tasty
Went in there because of the previous positive views. Walked in to just a few tables filled and one worker who had mentioned multiple times to costumers that she was running around like a chicken with her head cut off and how she was so busy, she wished she was on vacation like her other coworkers. People would walk in and she would say we aren’t taking on anymore costumers. Said there was a 30-45 minute wait. I ended up finding out that they were just out of bacon and home fries. The person who brought in bacon, walked in, definitely didn’t wash his hands and went right to the grill. Dishes smelled of fish. Wouldn’t recommend. It was also cold in there. Another costumer had also left because it was taking too long
Visiting Norfolk. Found this place across the street from the rental car place. It was clean, great customer service and great breakfast. I highly recommend.
A small location with a very friendly staff. It has the feel of a mom and pop breakfast spot that you would find out in the country. The breakfast was excellent and we were seated immediately.
If you want that home cooked taste and family kitchen atmosphere, Terrie's is your place. From the spirited greeting to the old guys in the back playing cards you'll feel right at home. The coffee is hot and bottomless and the food served fast, hot and delicious. Next time I'll try the lunch menu. Thank you Brandy for making my dining experience all the more pleasant.
Great breakfast and a relaxing atmosphere. Staff was very friendly and made me feel welcome. Cup of coffee never made it down half way with out being refilled. Will definitely go back
Found this little gem while visiting my son! Only breakfast and lunch but it’s truly delicious! Bonus they do sell your favorite spiked breakfast beverage!
Hate to give a small local business a lukewarm review but, there was nothing really outstanding about my meat lovers omelet or the biscuit that came with it. The egg portion was super thin and flat, not fluffy, and the texture of the biscuit was just like bread, it wasn't layered or crumbly. The home fries with onions and peppers were the best part of the meal but, there was only about four tablespoons of it....some of the reviews that led me there said the portions were generous, but I didn't think so. Sorry but only 3 stars.
