This is and has been my goto spot for Philly cheesesteaks for decades. They might have moved to the other end of the block, but that just means they have a new kitchen. The place is insanely clean for all the buisness they do. Highly suggest you order for pickup, since if you order when you get there, you could be in for a 20-30minute wait. The philly eggrolls are awesome btw.
Usually I get the Italian salad which is sooo good. This time I decided to get a steak and cheese with mushrooms and sweet peppers. I had forgotten how big their half subs are. Somehow I still managed to eat the entire sub.Philly's has been a staple in Norfolk for decades. I love how they give the entire staff time off for the holidays.
Staff was friendly and cery helpful. Nothing was homemade. The chicken came from a can, the burger was a regular beef patty from Sam's club.Considering the prices, I was expecting a homemade ground beef burger, or homemade pulled chicken..the brownie WAS homemade, however it was 2.58 for a square.. the egg roll was $3+ and it was made from canned chicken..I think they have a good concept just poor execution.
An errand brought me in the area at lunch time. I bought the Mushroom and cheesesteak sandwich. It was ready in about 10 minutes and I was out of there. They are very efficient and delicious food. Hard to beat. They also sell Herr's chips, but you will pay a premium. The half is sufficient for most for lunch.
This place is an institution of Norfolk. It is the only place I go for Philly steaks. It's been open for decades and they have hardly changed it all, except when they moved to the other side of the shopping center. They consistently deliver delicious cheese steaks without trying to do all the crazy frills that seem to be the staple of the current restaurant scene. Didn't realize they close so early. Pulled up at 6:30 pm one day and noticed they were already closed. I went around lunch time and it was so busy it was hard to get a parking space. They are taking call in orders, but not online orders (order from third party at your own risk). They take your order and then you wait and pay when it is ready. There are some homemade brownies that are offered and chips to get. I generally used to get salt and vinegar chips as it paired well with the cheese steak, but they did not seem to have any. Give it a try and you won't be disappointed.
definitely been part of my life growing up. the prices are very fair
I have been eating there since I moved in the area in 1998 I was stationed in Philly i still think this is the best
THIS RESTAURANT IS A MUST GO! I'm a first timer. I picked up 2 subs and a chicken Philly egg roll. DA BOMB DILL-E-O! BEYOND FABULOUS! The service was fabulous. I am born & raised in Virginia Beach and a friend of mine, who, by the way, is a native Richmond er, told me about this place and never stopped. Finally I hunted it down, (it's not hard to find) and wow. I would send a picture but it's gone. It's in my belly and my belly is happy. I could not resist, it smelled so good. Last thing I'll say is this, the one bad review you have on Google has to be from an insane human. They are crazy and need to stick to tasteless Subway. THIS RESTAURANT IS A MUST GO.
I had a cheesesteak with grilled onions, white American cheese, mayo and ketchup. Baaaaaby! That sandwich gave me life! Opened it up at work and everybody wanted to know what that delicious smell was, as I sat there biting into deliciousness. I beat the breaks off that sandwich ?
4.5⭐ Not the neatest sub I've ever had but it was quite tasty. Portion size of fries is enough for two. Fast friendly service. Walls are decorated with all sorts of Philly Sports & city history to keep you occupied during what was a rather short wait. Over all My Chicken Philly with Mushroom and Provolone was messy but very pleasing to the palate.
