We lived in the apartments behind Mi Hogar, and visited a handful of times. In comparison to other Mexican food in the area, it doesn't stand out. I've had dry/bland chicken, decent tacos, okay chips/salsa. But for me, the atmosphere is what brought us back. It's tiny, but quaint, and we only had poor service one time that I can recall. My mom (when she would visit from out of state) would request that we eat here.
A dinosaur of a Mexican place. The kind of Mexican place my family used to go to in the 90’s and 2000’s. Just meh food, presentation, and service. Suggestion to the owner/manager, go eat at other Mexican places and see how they are doing things differently. Also, your prices do not reflect quality, if you raise your prices put in a bit more effort.
The birria Tacos were actually kind of gross. The tortilla was soggy and falling apart which is so contradicting.. they seemed to be fried but lacked the crisp. (Not my first time trying, This is my usual everywhere) I’m extremely disappointed and stomach is even hurting. Oh and the cheese sauce was so runny wasn’t the worst but could’ve been way better. Rice was the only okay thing and barely that. I’m sorry I never write reviews but I’ve never been so disappointed while eating. Good service tho wish I took pictures it was bad..
It's a nice cozy atmosphere. Authentic Mexican cuisine. The steak fajitas looked damn good. The chicken and cheese enchiladas were OK. I didn't like the way they made thier chille rellenos, very runny. The beef burrito was a good size as expected. Good service.
Visiting from NoVA. Really liked the food! Comfortable seating, nice menu and great food!
Awesome restaurant I got the steak fajitas and I was great I could taste the authenticity in the food I could tell I've gone to a lot of authentic Mexican restaurants and this has to be one of the best. I only got a basic meal but I can only imagine if I had ordered a upscale dish . I will definitely be visiting again and the waitress was courteous and polite. To me it was just the feel the music everything was right thank u Mi Hogar for the experience
We stopped by on a Saturday night. We got seated, got some chips and salsa and waited. And waited. And waited. We waited for over 10 minutes and no one acknowledged us. We saw 4 people at the register while we sat and waited. We saw 2 people clear a table, very very slowly while we waited. They were not full and even took in a table for 8 as we waited.I told my husband to wait to see if the waitress approaching our table would take our order, but nope, she asked the table next to us if they needed anything, then turned around and left. This was after 15 minutes. No chips and salsa was left and our menus were closed. We looked ready to order. We didn’t even get drinks. No one asked if we needed anything. That’s when we got up and left. Thanks for nothing, so much for supporting a locally owned business, but we did go to Doumar’s instead and the food and service there was as good as it ever was.
Service was great, but alittle expensive. $100 for three quesadilla and a couple of tacos
I use to come here all the time haven't been back in about 6 mos. Things have change tables are nicer. THE FOOD HAS GONE DOWN!!!!! We got the fajita for 2 it came to the table not hot veg hard not cooked. All they wanted to do was give us another one no I'm sorry but you are not gonna give me other food an do something to it. Plus the dessert was not what I wanted or ordered. I ate it it was ok. I don't know of mi hogar is under new ownership but my opinion its gone down. I will no longer call this place my favorite place for Mexican food. I also will no longer tell people they need to go here an eat its great ??????BIG NO NO LONGER GOOD! ????
This is a small quaint Mexican restaurant. Staff was pleasant and helpful. Food was fresh but average. I liked their special, seafood enchiladas, never had crab in a Mexican dish, so that was interesting. They have a drink special going on right now, the Midnight Margarita; so sweet and yummy. They serve nachos and salsa with dining. They serve only a red salsa, but it is handmade and tastes great.
