First impressions.. didn't feel welcome at all. We had to ask if we could order. Took awhile before someone took our orders and I had to ask for our drink orders after waiting at least 10 mins. I guess this was not the typical Mexican place that served chips and salsa, had to ask for that too. Didn't have silverware when we got our food (had to locate the server to ask). Food was not very good. Such an off night for us first timers. We're not going back.
So this is for takeout. I ordered a California Burrito that can soggy with no filling and barely larger than my fist. They usually come sliced stuffed with fresh ingredients, this one came wet largely with melted cheese and a small scoop of meat w/o any vegetables inside. There was almost no filling. If you were expecting a decent to sub-par burrito for $14-15, that’s what this costs but it was below sub-par. I would go to Pelon’s Baja Grill or California Burrito for takeout moving forward. Even Qdoba what be better than what I was just given. It’s almost as if they ran out of ingredients, rolled up a tortilla and covered it with salsa to make up for it. Additionally it came with exactly 8 fries as the side. I would just advise never ordering takeout from Jessy’s as it is clearly an afterthought and horrible representation of the good food the serve dining-in. I would advise that Jessy’s stop takeout altogether.
Less than 25 hours ago (yesterday evening/night) I went to Jessy's Taco Bistro (in Norfolk Virginia) some time after I got off work to order and pick up some food for my husband. The employee handling my order was very upbeat and pleasant to be around and I received my food order in a timely manner, plus luckily my husband and I liked our food (my hubby selected the Chimichanga Fajita (with chicken with oaxaca cheese rice and beans ) while I selected the fried shrimp tacos that came with corn tortillas.
Service was great! The food not so much - kinda small portions for a Mexican restaurant, and the green salsa in the chilaquiles had too much lime. Also, the fried eggs were... Too fried (darkish). We might go back to try their outdoor sitting (which looks very cute) and their drinks
The customer service was ?...I ordered tacos they were okay but couldn't really get into them because they were sooooo soggy which sort of took away from the taste somewhat. Our server she was a huge thumbs down ?. It was my first time going to Jessy's and definitely my last. The prices are super expensive for the service to be as it was.
Love this place but sadly, they are overwhelming themselves with Togo orders. We came to the restaurant to dine in and have been waiting for an hour and a half for Chicken and rice. They claim the Togo orders are a lot, but I feel like they should make the customers that actually came out a priority. Maybe next time we will order pick up and get a table. Seems to be their priority. :(
Claim to serve skirt steak fajitas but it’s definitely tough dry round or shoulder steak. I would not recommend.
The tacos had no taste. They also were soggy and I never will never eat from here again. For great authentic Mexican cuisine go to Krazy Thompos in VA Beach.
Every delivery order from this place ends up incomplete or incorrect. EVERY ORDER. And there have been at least ten. I keep getting refunded from GrubHub or Ubereats. Bottom line: their food is very good but the service and effort from their staff is abysmal. It has been this way since the day they opened. I need to finally give up on this place. Even Taco bell gets their orders correct.
My taco salad had half an ounce of lettuce at best. A few jalapeños on top would have been plenty, but there were jalapeños throughout for a total of 10 large slices! Maybe some would prefer extra jalapenos, but it wasn't a pleasant surprise for me. I'm not even sure what else was in it...a tiny bit of lettuce, tons of jalapenos, plenty of chicken (which would have been fine if the chicken tasted good and was shredded or pulled, but it was cut up chunks), and very watery. We also ordered cheese quesadillas, but received chicken quesadillas, and the server actually asked if we could just eat the chicken quesadillas. Also, not food related, but if the bathroom light is behind the door, either get motion sensor lights, leave the light on, or change the door so the handle would be on the right instead. I had to hea my cell phone light to be able to see to even get to the light switch. We won't be back.
