Went in to order lunch older gentlemen possibly the owner was taking an order over the phone with gloves on and then proceeded to head back over to finish preparing food and then wiping his hands consistently on his clothes without changing gloves. Very unsanitary. We went on to place an order with the young lady at the register and requested that he changed his gloves to prepare our food she kindly asked him and his response was "NO I JUST CHANGED MY GLOVES" very disturbing. We left immediately. Would advise to check the cleanliness and proper food handling within this food establishment. Not ever going back. Customer service is everything.
The food tasted amazing and the prices were unbelievably affordable. I was also surprised by the sit down service as well. The customer service was outstanding. I didn’t even realize we were in there past their normal closing time until I came here to leave a review because they were so nice to us anyway. It was a great break from our event and my kids and I will definitely be returning.
I don't think I have ever been to a "quick bites" restaurant where every single person I came into contact with was as friendly as the staff at Famous Uncle Al's. My family and I stopped here for a quick bite before touring a local attraction and from the moment we walked in the door we were treated like family. I did not realize until after our visit that we had walked in at the very end of their day (they close at 2:00 and we arrived around 1:30). Despite coming in and sitting down at the last minute, every staff member in the restaurant acted as if they appreciated having us in the restaurant. The food was cooked well and was reasonably priced. Even though it was the end of the day, all of our food was fresh. I highly recommend this restaurant if you are in downtown Norfolk and need a quick bite.
My hands down breakfast lunch spot in Downton Norfolk. I work construction and I am also a very early riser. I stop here before jobs in the downtown area because it's so well located on Granby st. Great service, the guy has been there for years. I remember my mother bringing me and my twin brother in to eat hotdogs years and years ago she has passed. We thought it was sooo cool when we were younger. The place is still Poppin and We love it.Thank you.The Vincent'sP.s. Cornbeef hash, eggs over easy medium, Bacon, toast and grits.?? You will thank me later!

in from out of town for business, walked by last night on Granby, went for b'fast this morning. really awesome egg sandwich on croissant, hot, fresh, with some incredible home fried potatoes--really crisp, rightly/lightly seasoned, made the meal complete. Ms. Riley at the counter was super professional, quick, and made things easy--especially getting coffee! would highly recommend Uncle Al's--I may have to go back for a hot dog!

Whenever in downtown Norfolk I go here for breakfast. They have all the breakfast type meals. Today I stopped by for lunch. I had the club sandwich and fries. It was old school club with ham, turkey, bacon, American cheese with lettuce and tomatoes on toasted bread. Delish!! Fries were perfect! No salt and not heavy. Great place!!!!!
I was in Norfolk for work and the locals suggested this spot. I knew I was in the right spot when I saw Corn beef hash. Yum!!!! This spot is soooo cute and the food was delicious. It was very much diner food.
