I travel for work so I like to try different black owned restaurants I finds on TikTok.Food: The presentation of the food was amazing. The flower was really a beautiful touch. The skin on the chicken was flavorful but that was the only thing.Drinks: I only had the Great Tea Shot.Music: The music was definitely a good vibe.
Canvas has the potential to be a great restaurant. With some new management and order. When I was first seated, I was immediately disgusted. From the dust build up on the bar I was seated, to the dirty kitchen, to the dirty hallway going to the bathroom. After seeing all the dirt before getting my food I do not feel comfortable trying their hookah. It took over a hour for us to get some food. The music playlist was great! My drink (fly me out) tastes watered down so I sent it back. Once we received our food it didn't look bad. The mac and cheese was good, the crab Cameron were a little fishy, the chicken and French toast was blah. The chicken tasted like burnt grease and no season. I would suggest they shut down to do a deep clean and gain more kitchen help and cleaners.
This place really has potential. Nice aesthetic, vibe, and scene. The DJ was great! However, the service was absolutely horrible. I’m hoping it was a one-off, but the servers were getting lit in between waiting tables, the hostess seemed to be prioritized on letting in people she knew versus people who were actually waiting for a table. The food came out 45 minutes late and things were missing and semi warm. I ordered a mango mimosa and they sent out a pineapple one. I asked if it could be sent back and was told “the bartender already made it” lol. Stop the madness. Do better.
The food was worth the hour wait. The shrimp and grits were seasoned to perfection. The vibe was relaxed with good music. The staff seemed friendly. The only complaint I would have is that there was alot of pulp in our carafe of strawberry mango mimosa.
Man the drinks are amazing and I Loved ? ❤️ My Chicken and Waffles, OMG. Great Service too.
I WAS trying to support my people... The menu over hypes the food. They just add toppings to the waffles and French toast and can come out cold. Bacon was just the slim fatty part of bacon. The chicken was actually seasoned. DID NOT have sweet tea. What place that serves southern fare does not have sweet tea. It is also a brunch spot with no coffee. High prices to use plastic utensils. Worker with earmuffs audibly yelled F white people while my guest entered the establishment. Go to be social but food and drink and a no go. Oh they serve hookah during the day and don’t tell you when being seated with children.
Nice vibe in a small space but I like the intimacy that brings! Cool drink and food menu (breakfast/brunch menu is different from dinner menu and only available during breakfast/brunch...chicken and waffles is on the dinner menu). If you don't like the smell of smoke (hookah) probably not the place for you.
This place is a vibe. The music was good and the staff was very friendly. I just don’t recommend bringing children because, other customers may be smoking hookah and the music is a bit loud. I ordered a canvas mule and it was very strong in a good way. The chicken was seasoned very well and the waffles were delectable.I definitely recommend checking this place out.
Food was excellent as well as the plate presentation! However the use of plastic utensils and paper napkins, takes away from the highly aesthetic dish. The atmosphere is a blend of restaurant and bar with background music playing at such high levels, that table-top conversations tend to be quite loud. With that being said, if you enjoy great food and good music, this would be a nice choice.
It can be a little loud, BUT loved everything I ordered and definitely returning to try additional menu items.
