What a great place! The outside doesn't look impressive but the inside is beautiful and feels very comfortable. We got to chat a lot with the owner Daud (or David) who was very helpful explaining about the food and the spices. We started with the hummus which was some of the best I've had out of the middle east. For lunch I had the lamb kabob and my wife had the beef kabobs, and then finished off with some dessert that was essentially two large cookies and some Persian tea. Everything was amazing and we'll definitely return!

Omg! I didn't know this place existed until Monday. Warwick Blvd in Newport News near a shopping center.I got the Lamb kabob dinner, which was $21 and it had enough to feed two people. Loved the salad, different rices and the kabobs were tender and tasty. I did a side order of baked eggplant $7.50 and it was so good I'm going back today.

Nice little atmosphere. The owner is the waiter and there is another girl, but she did not do much. We got the hot sampler for and appetizer and there was not much to it and we got the dinner for two and in my opinion it was bland. We got the lemon cake for dessert and it was over baked and was served cold and tasted stale. Took to long to get drink refills and had to go to the bar to finally pay our bill. Not going back.

Very friendly reception and very tasty food. Cosy place in Newport News, every food tasted wonderful and made us feel back in Arabisa.. . For sure we will be back! Thank you & danke schoen!

My family or business partners (or both) eat here once a week. The food is great. David’s service is always the finest, and you feel like an honored guest in his home. He will tell you wonderful stories and always goes beyond our expectations. The lunch today was amazing, the appetizers were flawless, and it was great to catch up. He makes everyone from all backgrounds feel special. Thanks David!

I can't begin to tell you how good this place is. the owners customer service and willingness to teach about his culture food is sexond to none! . This place is hands down the best Mediterranean food

Not only was the food amazing, but the owner is a true humanitarian. While eating a homeless person came in & without hesitation the owner quickly made him a meal with drink & dessert. If you’ve ever wanted to try Middle Eastern food this is the place to go! You will leave satisfied that you got an amazing meal & are supporting a truly wonderful business.

I have been to Saffron restaurant twice now, both on Monday evenings. An Afghani run quaint restaurant that puts its own twists on other middle eastern dishes while also incorporating its own traditional foods. This is the place to go if you want delicious and healthy food. Get the Persian tea, get the specials and get back home because you are going to want to rest afterwards.

The food was delicious and the service was outstanding. The owner, I believe his name is David, was very informative about the food they serve. I learned things about eggplant I never knew! Will definitely be back.

I can't say I agree with the negative reviews. The place was very clean, our waiter was very friendly and the food was quite good - especially the tea and different styles of rice.
