When we arrived we for some reason had to order online and no explanation was given. Then my brothers order didn't go through only mine so we had to argue about that even though it showed up in his bank. The whole experience felt like pulling teeth. Will definitely never come back.
Mooyah has a standard cheeseburger for $8.29 to start, and you can add on extra proteins, cheeses and extras for an additional $1.49 each. For two people to get a meal and a shake, about $40 for food that is below subpar. The customer service was also atrocious. Although the store sign said they closed at 9pm on Sunday, google said they closed at 7:30pm; and the workers turned away people at 7:15pm saykng they were aleady closed. Absolutely ridiculous. I hope no one is foolish enough to waste money here ever again.
NOT the best burgers at all. Burger was anything but what I expected, opposite of juicy. The fries were over salted and about half deep fried crumbs. The minute I walked in I got the impression of dirty and smelled like old socks and burning meat. It would have helped if the overhead fans were on and at least move the air around. I had to clean the table myself and still came up sticky and felt just plain dirty.I have no idea who manages this restaurant but they need to take a deep look at their operations, not to mention the health department taking a look as well. For $30 there are much better options to eat in Newport News!
Ordered a Mooyah Burger + Fries Combo. One of only two customers present in the store at the time. They were clearly understaffed. Took 20 Minutes to make the burger+fries. The burger was OK. The fries were limp.I was watching their preparation process out of the corner of my eye and I would not give them a top rating for efficiency or cleanliness (crossing my fingers that I don't come down with food poisoning or something else)I have been to other Mooyah Locations that were excellent. This one not so. I would give them an overall C- Rating(being generous) and I will not be visiting this particular location again.
We walked in and unfortunately the 2staff members didn't feel interested in either greeting us or helping us out. Apparently you can only order online & the staff wouldn't have even explained it to us, if we wouldn't have asked several times. Bummer. We didn't even eat or order anything. Sorry - 1 star due to 0% customer service
We went to the Newport News Mooyah Tuesday evening. It was shortly after 7:00. They close at 7:30. I got the distinct vibe that us being there was an inconvenience to the workers. There were three workers and none of them were very eager to take my order. When they finally did, they told us that they close at 7:30, so all orders are now take out only. Weird, not something a restaurant would normally do, but we said ok. We got our drinks and took a seat and waited. After a family that came in long after us was served their food, I got up to see where our order was. No food was being prepped. Nothing on the grill. So I asked about my order. The young man told me they lost my order, but he just found it. He would have it ready in five minutes. It had already been 30 minutes. That entire time we were sitting there, nobody came to us to say anything. Lost order can happen, but the lack of urgency to do anything about it was enough. I said no thanks, I would like a refund. He went to the back and told one of the others “he wants a refund”. She yelled to somebody further back “HE WANTS A REFUND”. That person yelled back “I DON’T KNOW HOW TO DO THAT!” Then I saw her step out the back door. A while later she came back in on her phone. She said she could not refund on the card. I said cash is fine. We lost the reward that we burned on the order, but at that point I just wanted out. She took my name and number and said a manager would call me. I didn’t get a call, hence this review. I didn’t want to leave a review. Their sweet potato fries and queso burger are good and I hate to leave a bad review. But I can’t get over the apathy of the staff. Going to try the one in Virginia Beach tomorrow. Won’t be back to the Newport News location.
The 2 staff were too busy to take out order. They said hello when we walked in, but never came back. We ended up going to Jersey Mike's next door instead.
It's sad when you pay extra for toppings and don't get them. Burgers weren't wrapped well, and the juices seeped through the paper bag to stain my car seat. First time and last time at this location. They also would not take orders at the cash register and told us to order online instead.
We've never eaten at this restaurant, but tried to today. Two signs on the door indicated they opened at 11:00am. We came by at 11:15 and the door was locked. There was someone at the grill, but he just ignored us. It looked like a nice place and advertised good food, but it's no good of you can't get in.
I was not impressed with the quality of the food for the price we paid
