The margarita was juice. The food was some of the most bland I’ve had. Their chips were not good. Their salsa was very very boring. Their prices were far too high for what you got. They don’t even include a scoop of guac on your food. I rated it two stars solely on the decor and cleanliness. Both were great!
The food was terrible. My lady couldn’t eat her meal. She complained about the meal. The waitress said he couldn’t find the manager. The manager finally appeared from somewhere about 15 minutes later. He gave us a 10 percent discount, which amount to $4.40 from a bill of $44.90. He could had kept that little, so called discount. We will not be going back there again!!!
Love this place! Great food and staff
Love their food and the service is great.
Went to Juan’s on a Wednesday night around 8:40 for the first time. The restaurant wasn’t packed, but I heard it gets packed during busy hours. Before we got to order you get a fresh serving of chips and salsa. THIS IS A TRAP! The chips are SO fresh and crispy and the salsa has the perfect level spice and seasoning. So obviously and I finished the whole serving. Then the server brought another order of the chips… The chips are unlimited and so delicious, but I wouldn’t recommend eating too much or you’ll have trouble finishing your entree. My group ordered the Empanadas de Birria, Burrito Pastor, and Molcajete. Empanadas were slightly crispy and flakey. The empanadas comes in the count of 3 and the filling is full of meat with a side of meaty oil sauce. The Burrito Pastor was very in portion. It was plated with cheese and salsa verde on the side of the burrito and was topped with avocados and jalapeños. The meat filling was very tender and juicy. Each bite had the sweetness from pineapple and sometimes you would bite into a pineapple which was like a little hidden treat. Finally, the Molcajete was a huge meal that included tons of different types of protein in a heated mortar with a side of rice, vegetable, and tortilla. The portion for this dish was HUGE! The meat were all tender and very well seasoned to go with the rice and veggies. The server who served us was also very polite and chill. He would check up on us often to make sure our water was full and if we needed anything else. Overall the whole experience was phenomenal and I would recommend to anyone who is in the area.Fun little side note: Each refill for water our server added another lemon to the cup. So I, in total, had 4 lemons floating in my cup and my friend and I thought it was a fun way to keep track of how many refills we got.
Food here is always good. We ordered the Molcajete (in the black bowl) & the Fried Chimichangas (Without Tomatoes & Lettuce) I also had a Blood Orange Margarita which was yummy. Try the Cheese Dip for the Tortilla Chips. It’s so good. We use any leftover cheese dip on our meals. It’s really good mixed in with their Mexican rice. Service is always friendly. Would definitely recommend stopping in for a bite.
Today you lost a good customer! Some of my food items were omitted from the bag. I didn’t notice that until I got home. I immediately called spoke to a person that was rude and unapologetic. I asked for a minimal refund (8.00). I was denied which is all good. I requested to speak with the manager; I was placed on hold for 5 minutes to no avail. The lady said the manager was busy and for me to call back later (really)? Is that how you address customers issues or complaints? Customers keep businesses in business. I will gladly spend my money with your competitors.
Just left the Juan's in Newport News. Our family of 5 were seated and waited for 10 minutes for someone to come over and take our drink orders or anything. We watched as 3 waiters/waitress served the tables directly beside and around us but not one came to our table. Left since it became obvious that we weren't going to be receiving any service.
first time here everything was wonderful will be back real soon. The staff was so friendly and food was great
I will start this review off by saying I have been a loyal customer of Juan's for years and usually have had great experiences here, especially great experiences throughout the pandemic. But my most recent experience was too awful to ignore, and the situation has still not been made right by Juan's management. On January 5, my husband and I had dinner with a friend at Juans. At the end of dinner, my husband and I were given our check and my friend was given their check. Over the next weekend, I see that my husband and I were charged for both our ticket AND our friend's ticket. Our friend was also charged for their ticket. So 3 charges were made for 2 bills... My husband and I went to the Juan's Newport News location that same weekend during the afternoon to have this incorrect charge credited back to our card. When we arrived, we asked the hostess at the front to speak with a manager about the situation. Someone comes to speak with us, not a manager, and after explaining the situation to him, he goes to pull someone else. Another person comes out, not a manager, we explain the situation and he tells us that if don't have our receipt from that night that they cannot do anything to correct the situation. So we ask AGAIN to speak with a manager, and finally a manager named Reiny comes out to speak with us. We explain the situation to Reiny multiple times and ask for the incorrect charge to be removed and credited back to us. He is able to pull up our receipts from dinner and see exactly what the charges were and that our card was swiped twice, and our friend’s card was swiped as well. He also was able to pull an original copy of all the signed receipts from that night from the back, so the employee who told me they couldn't help us without our receipt clearly just wanted us to go away and didn't want to deal with the situation. So after all this, Reiny understood the situation and says that he will credit us back for the incorrect charge. I ask for a copy or proof that he credited us, and he could not provide a copy to us. He also said that because it was the weekend, we should expect to see the money credited back on Monday or Tuesday of the next week. We understand that and leave thinking the situation has been resolved. Well, here we are 3+ weeks later, and no money has been credited back to us. The employees and manager had no interest in correcting the situation. I truly believe that no credit was ever put back on our card to begin with, and the manager told us what we wanted to hear so we would go away. This is FRAUD and absolutely unacceptable. I understand mistakes happen, and they can be corrected, and all would be well. But Juan's still has not corrected this fraudulent mistake... and is losing a loyal customer over the matter.
