If I could give them 0 stars I would! My boyfriend and I came to have good food and enjoy the nice view. The service was extremely slow and not that great. However, the food was absolutely horrible! Everything was fishy with no seasoning. It literally was like they took everything from the sea and just cooked it. The coleslaw was a bunch of strings and dry! Ridiculous and disgusting! I will NEVER GO BACK HERE AND I DON’T RECOMMEND ANYONE ELSE GO EITHER!
Restaurant was out of alot of item, including crab. How could a place called Crab House be out of crab. Service sucked. Never saw our waitress. Food was okay for seafood and for the price. Asked for more dressing for cole slaw from waitress and host took 10 min to get it. View was absolutely beautiful.
If 0 stars was an options that is what I would give Crab Shack on the James. My husband and I enjoyed the view but the food was absolutely terrible, followed by a horrendous experience with the “manager”. First we ordered Calamari, which was basic but ok. My husband had the Shecrab soup, which kept its shape when picked up with a fork (because the spoon we requested never arrived). Needless to say it was inedible. For our entrees we each had Flouder stuffed with crab, french fries and cole slaw. The fish was a mushy mess, and the cole slaw was weird and warm. After eating a small portion we decided to leave and the servicer suggested speaking to the manager as we were unhappy. The manager adamantly said we ate too much food and refused to offer any type of discount (see photo). She also threatened to call the police because we expressed that we were unhappy paying the full bill for the truly disgusting food. Our bill was $118 for our food plus 2 beers and 2 rum runners. We ended up unhappily paying as we had our baby with us and just wanted to leave. I would not recommend this restaurant to my worst enemy. The pretty location is not worth the poor food and the even poorer management. I let her know I would be leaving a review based on our experience and I keep my promises.

food was not great it was very awful came out cold had to send back and get refund I would not recommend this place at all if not worth money spent
Great service an incredible food no Leah but still love ya girl
Amanda was a great server, the food was delicious (crab legs and tuna sandwich), the banana margarita was awesome, and got the carrot cake to go! Love the views at the Crab Shack on the James... just wish I could have ordered the clams casino, which they don't have on the menu anymore, but everything else was good.
The wait to be seated was way too long bc I had a reservation. BUT Good food with a beautiful view of the sunset on the patio. We had a large party and the main complaint was all the baked potatoes were cold. They replaced them all. The waitress handled it well, BUT she really should've had more help with a party of 10. It was still a good experience overall bc it was my birthday dinner
The view to james river is great. The service is fairly good. The food - sea food platter had a crab cake with no taste at all. Steamed shrimp were good
Fresh seafood on the James river and great views! Sit out on the deck area and enjoy the smells of the water while sipping on some drinks. Perfect!
