I've been coming to Canvas ever since they opened (Feb 2019 I believe), and have always had consistently incredible experiences. The coffee, in my opinion, is the best in the 757. The people are amazing - the team are all knowledgeable, warm and passionate about what they do and where the coffee comes from. Everything they produce has been carefully crafted and lovingly made. Their beans are roasted fresh in their warehouse roastery and they're the best beans money can buy in this area. I would highly recommend visiting this special place if you are in the area and buy a bag of their beans while you're there.
My favorite specialty coffee shop! The hedgehog is definitely my favorite. If you see the "strawberry basil latte" pop back up on the menu (it's seasonal) do yourself a favor and try it out! They also sell bags of beans so you can make your own at home! The only coffee I make at home is the beans from the canvas bag. The staff are always wonderful as well!
Great coffee, service, and location! Unfortunately the restrictive hours prevent me from coming here any more often than rarely. I wish there were an indie coffee shop on the peninsula that was open evenings and Sundays! I believe Sweet Beans is, but they are farther from me and often I don't feel like making the longer drive.
This is by far the best cup of coffee I’ve ever had! The hospitality is above par as well! When my wife and I went in we were greeted by a young lady with a warm “good morning”. This may not seem like much to most people but in todays society it was like a breath of fresh air. Just being acknowledge kindly when visiting a shop really sets the tone and far too many shops don’t offer a simple hello. Needless to say we will be returning and if you want a great cup of coffee this is the spot for you!
Upon walking in, the smell of espresso gently wafts about the air and the background conversation from others fills the atmosphere like a warm blanket. Their signature hedgehog latte was freaking spectacular (especially if you like chocolate). If you like little urban like coffee places, this is a cozy spot.
No sugar free flavors available, which is what I look for in a coffee shop - I couldn’t find whether they had them available online prior to stopping by (though they do make their own flavors). Small size of an americano (MAYBE 10oz??) for price. Happy to support small and local, but just average.
Best coffee shop in Newport News, coffee is of outstanding quality and always consistent with great and super friendly employees. I would give it 5 star review but the only gripe is that it closes too early at 4pm. So if you need to do some work or school work in the afternoon, be sure to come early.
My teen daughters are hooked! We love to sit and have our coffee in real mugs❤️
I absolutely love this place. The vibes are chill and I am so productive here sipping on their amazing coffee. Plenty of interesting seating options and a rotating menu of seasonal drinks makes for a great time.
It was honestly my first time trying a latte and it definitely exceeded my expectations!! The atmosphere is Epic hahah kinda gives me cool hipster vibes, very contemporary, books, welding shelves, green wall nature vibes hahaha I love the little shop. It's definitely not a big spot and it gets filled with the locals very quickly in the morning times but many drinks to offer, delicious pastries, seasonal specials galore ♡ I will differently be coming back soon
