Tried River City diner as suggested by MARRIOTT EAT AROUND TOWN. The diner had a nice nostalgic look. Everyone was nice when we came in. Our server Annette V. Was extremely nice and on her game. I ordered the Mississippi Catfish dinner surprisingly it was seasoned right. The coleslaw could've been better but I hooked it up. The sweet potato ? casserole was on point I thought my mama was in the kitchen. My finance got the Philly Cheese he says it was really good except his ? fries was a little too salty. Regardless, we'll come back for the service and food. Hopefully we'll get Ms. Annette again.
Just witnessed a manager tell a customer who happened to be a mother with her son, that if they don't like the customer service they didn't need to eat here. First problem was the guy looked like a kitchen worker versus a manager. Second, if you're supposed to be a manager then why escalate the situation versus deescalate? I could talk about the food but the troubling thing was the tone and him doing so in front of a young child. I will never eat here again. I can deal with bad food, but bad management is intolerable.
Fun decor, professional staff, great food at reasonable price. The portions are huge! There is seating indoor & outside.
Just came back from eating there and got the sausage gravy plus. The gravy was completely expired and tasted sour. The only good thing that came from eating here was the refund we got once we left.
Well established local diner. Food was decent and the portions were good. It was very busy but as my first visit, not too impressed with the impersonal staff, dirty floors, bathroom and at least three times glass was broken.
Definitely one of the better diners I have been to in the is area. Both times I have been there they have been packed because their food is delicious. They have a bar there if you would like a drink with your food.
5 star reflects my satisfaction. The front door has a nasty habit of being partially open, thus allowing a pesky breeze in the foyer. Wait time was acceptable. Our server Emily was on point. Didn’t linger too much, she picked up the slack from her lazy bus boy with the glasses. His lack of enthusiasm and urgency was an eye sore while I munched on my pancakes. She carried the team. Emily arrived with a steaming pot of freshly brewed coffee ready to refill my cup. Within 10 minutes of ordering we had our food. Food came out fast. Menu was a typical, yet satisfactory menu. Diner decor was cute. I liked the attribution to classical movies and musical icons. Great diner, I’d go again. It may have escaped my notice, but I wish there was a small section of merchandise for customers to buy, maybe a River Side Diner magnet/mug.
First time breakfast on 1-12-22. Three fried eggs, patty sausage, hash browns, orange juice. Disappointing, since I had eaten dinner there, and it was excellent.Despite me specifically saying I wanted the whites thoroughly cooked and the yokes runny, they came out over easy and had to be returned. Pam apparently used to fry eggs. Patty sausage was excellent. Hash browns were nicely browned and tasty, but barely room temperature when served. Orange juice and service were excellent.Not sure why, but I was there only about 30 minutes. Yet by the time I left, everything was ice cold.Would I go back for breakfast? Not for a long while.
Kids love this place! Good food, great shakes and a fun, clean environment!
I enjoyed all of the food and the sweet tea. I have visted both, this one and the one off of route 1. Have always enjoyed the food at both places. The reason I have only given this resturant 3 stars is because of the cleanliness. The booth had cardboard dividers which I am sure makes it difficult to clean them. There was food on the one behind me; it looked as though a child had food or sauce on his/her fingers and smeared it on the divider. There was also food on the one behind my friend. The place really needs to be dusted and sanitized very well. My friend was pointing out different things. The little radio on the table was filled with dust and dirt. My friend wanted to point out the light fixture; I refused to let her show me. Please consider different dividers and taking a day to deep clean. My friend cleans for a living. Unfortunately due to the cleanliness I have to give ?? (2-sad faces).
