Katana sushi is one of the best sushi places in Richmond. This location has the freshest fish with additional option of wagyu beef. They provide edamame and fried crab Rangoon like dumplings as free starters. For those cold fall and winter days I recommend getting their green tea. If you are a raw fish lover then try their Salmon Belly sushi or sashimi, very fatty and melts in your mouth. They also offer specials which seem to change depending on the market.
Spent $10 on one little piece of wagyu. That wagyu carried me through a plane of nonexistence. Time frozen. Noise eliminated. Sight blurred. What am I feeling? I don't know. Is this real wagyu? I don't know. Am I real? I don't know. Existenti-- wait nothing is in my mouth anymore. I hear ambient chatter fading back in. I sense grainy chopsticks in my hands. Is that someone is talking to me?Lobster roll and shumai are so and so.Limited number of tables. I say just a tad bit bigger than a small restaurant.Pricey for sure but it's not your grocery store sushi.
I’ve been here with my parents a few times. I personally don’t like seafood, but they have plenty of other options. The Katana Balls they have are SOOO good. I also love their tempura. Even though I’m not a sushi fan (I don’t like seafood in general), I’m always in AWE when my parents’ sushi rolls come out. They’re gorgeous and look so fresh! Definitely Instagram-worthy! The employees here are incredibly kind, friendly, and attentive, even when they’re busy. The atmosphere is very calming as well. I always enjoy visiting Katana and I highly recommend!
I’ve been coming here the past few months for sushi and it is hands down the best quality and selection of sushi I have ever had. (TRY THE TORO AND SAKE BELLY, sooooo gooood.) aside from their food, the staff is so sweet, kind, and friendly! This is the #1 place I recommend anyone to try if they ask where to eat, always a great experience :)
We have been going to Katana for years for their delicious sushi! It is the best that I've ever had and I have tried many of the sushi restaurants in the area. The staff is extremely friendly and conscientious of their customers. The owners know us and treat us like family every time we come in. You won't find a better sushi restaurant in the area and you won't be disappointed. Highly recommended!!!
Our favorite sushi spot in the area!
Costs are high. Quality is low. I tried a sushi roll, they had amazing rice, could only taste rice. The oyakodon was bad. Something terrible happened to those eggs. Chicken was bad. No soda fountain, so be prepared to be badly raked if you want a soda with your meal.
I am not a fan of the purple rice, so i always ask for white rice to be used. The sushi is phenomenal. Definitely the best in the area. Some items are made incorrectly so stay away from the tonkatsu and the katsudon.
Good food. Good service. Very fresh and well cut sushi. The purple rice is apparently good for you and taste the same as white rice. I do wish they’d use a little bit less rice on the sushi rolls.
Delicious food (great tempura which is hard to find!) and wonderful service (my friend left his hat and our host ran out with it before we pulled out) and great value.
