We tried the pizza and the baked lasagna. The lasagna was in a vodka based sauce and not bad. Just wasn't anything to really write home about. Kind of bland. The pizza was extremely oily. It was so oily the cheese and toppings wouldn't stay on the pizza. We got pepperoni and half with garlic. They used wayyyy too much garlic. And it must have been garlic power based on the huge clumps coving half the pizza. I scraped most of it off.
#1 Italian Spot in RVA at this price point. This 30+ year, family owned business wholistically captures the warmth of eating in Italy at your families Villa. Large portion, tasty food, with amazing dessert (better than we had in Italy) and a great wine selection. The atmosphere is nicely appointed with murals of the families history everywhere.TLDR: The muscles marinara are a must, along with the tarimisu. Every dish here is a fantastic representation of classic Italian food. Go for the specials when available. Quality ingredients and care go into the dishes. Pizza is top notch as well. Stop in for a drink and dessert late night on the patio for a romantic night cap.I've known the owners Angelo and Josephine for 5 years now. They are some of the most generous and warm people you'll ever meet. They treat customers with great respect.Food: It's all good. Prepare for leftovers for sure. Very large portions here. Quality olive oil, seasonings, and wine reductions go into a lot of the dishes. Seafood is better than the turf options here in my opinion. My favorites are the muscles, carbonara, and lobster ravioli. When there's a special fish option I go with that every time.Appetizers: Have I mentioned the muscles... whatever you're in the mood for, go with. Big enough portion to serve as a meal for one.Dessert: Tirimisu is the winner. Hands down. House made by Angelo. He orders the canoli shells and lemoncello cake from an Italian bakery in Jersey. Makes the canoli filling in house. So amazing and better than anything we had in Italy. Some of the best dessert in RVA. Especially at the price.Drinks: Great wine choices. One of the largest sellers of Bocelli wines in the US! Bar drinks are well made and generous. Beer is a little limited. Generally 1 new local choice seasonally.Atmosphere: Often busy, but plenty of space. This is a new building for the restaurant and is well decorated and wonderfully Italian. Plenty for the wye to catch.Staff: Angel served us last time wonderfully! Everyone here treats you like the family you want to be around. Enjoy your meal here!
1st time calling ahead for a pizza, was given the total and a number for pick up, had to ask how long. When I arrived, I did notice a long line for pick up, but I didn't request curbside, so I parked and went in only to be told I had to pick up curbside. When I told the (I'm assuming owner) that she should tell people the standard operating procedure i was told many times " they tell everyone" essentially calling me a liar. When I pointed that out she did ( reluctantly) apologize.Other than poor customer service, the pizza was delicious, made up for it. Seems they have a great regular crowd, maybe they need to be reminded business doesn't grow if you treat first timers poorly.
If I could give it zero stars I would. Lackluster food and horrible service. Not to mention there was a hair in my husbands food. When something when mentioned in front of the waiter, he acted like he could care less. Never got checked on and everyone acted like they could care less. I have had better service at Olive Garden.
Excellent, friendly, prompt service. Delicious, hot pizza and cold, scrumptious tiramisu for dessert.
Food was mediocre. Service was worse. Found a hair in one persons food and told the waiter. He didn’t acknowledge it. Paid our bill and left. On our way out we we’re finally given the chance to speak to a manager but we left instead. Horrible experience.
This place is extremely disappointing. Food was very lackluster and the staff acted like they could care less. Our server didn’t seem to be bothered about us. Not to mention the hair found in my husbands food. When we mentioned to the waiter, he walked away. I have better service at Olive Garden. So sad
So happy to have discovered Angelos is now in Midlothian. I would have given this rating a 5; however, our server didn't offer parm cheese when our meal was served. Every single thing we had was Delicious! Huge portions.
So enjoyed the friendly mgmt, service, family atmosphere with booths and small tables for conversation, and really quality food. Selections and prep and costs are great!
Pasta nite specials on Tuesday. Nice salad
