My wife and I decided to eat at Pulcinella this evening. We were impressed!Hidden gem that moved to a new location. We ordered the arugula and burrata salads. They were delicious and the burrata definitely had a bit more of a tasty advantage. For our main course, my wife got the seafood and pasta dish with red sauce and I ordered the brazino. Both dishes were perfectly prepared and light on the sauces. Highly recommend the fiesta del mar, chef's own recipe! We ordered the cheesecake to go and looking forward to eating it shortly. We definitely plan on returning soon!
They have moved. The service was excellent. They have worked out the bugs from moving. It's small in comparison to what it used to be and they now offer outside dining. The largest percentage of business is takeout. I have been going to Pulcinella's for over 30 years. I never thought I would say this, since it was always so good, but it's even better than before. They even accommodate Vegan dining too. I had a portobello pizza that was fabulous. Just as good if not better than in Italy.
We had visited their new restaurant a view times for coffee and take out. We already noticed then that the food was good, but portions small. 04/22 we went their and wanted a table outside. The service was really below par. Tables were not being cleaned for a long time, one table and area around it was a mess with spaghetti and pizza parts on the floor. Our waiter seemed like a temporary, stand-in waiter. Clumsy, rushed, uninterested in his guests. We might still go there for pizza take out, but for dining in and the small (non pizza) meals, the mediocre service, we won’t visit again. This restaurant is yet another proof why we desperately need Matchbox next door to open, and many similar quality chains. There really is not a single good restaurant, with consistent good food and service. Can’t wait for Matchbox to open.
Ordered Pasta Bolognese and a medium pizza. The sauce was absolutely delicious! The pizza was even better than it was at the last Pulcinella location.Definitely will be coming back!!! Awesome food.
We have gone to Pulcinellas for almost two decades but our lunch today was our first time at their new location. It is small but very tastefully done inside. We were warmly welcomed immediately. We ordered calamari, pasta bolognese with meatballs, chicken and eggplant parmigiana. The food was hot, beautifully plated and delicious. We all agreed that the food was much better than at their old location. We love it, highly recommend it and will be back.
Great experience. IMO this is the best Italian in McLean. We ordered Meatballs, Pizza, Veal Piccata, Pasta and Dessert and everything was just so good!!!!
Tucked away for a wonderful Italian experience!! The food was amazing! Got the Tuscan Style Chicken & Ravioli Marinara. Sauce on the chicken was delicious. Service is fantastic. Although dining is a little tight it just makes for a cozier experience. Five stars for Pulcinella!
We could not stay away so we returned yesterday, even though we had Italian food the day before. Our server, AJ, was superb. Our soups and entrees were nice and piping hot. The flavors were incredible. So far, you can taste every dish’s unique flavors. The kitchen here does not mess around. AND, the tiramisu was to die for. I was speechless. We will be back soon.* * * *A breath of fresh air. Nothing has changed in McLean in the last 40 year but it looks like things are headed towards a new direction. Pulcinella has given me a reason to come back to McLean. From what I understand, the current new location is smaller than its original location but the food is fantastic. My appetizers of clam chowder soup and mussels in marinara sauce were served piping hot and succulent. The salsiccia pizza (tomato sauce, mozzarella, beef sausage, beef pepperoni) was delicious. The pizza dough was perfectly executed, a nice golden brown. In all my years of dining on Italian cuisine I have never had the linguini agnello, marinated lamb in balsamic, pesto, and light tomato sauce. It was unbelievable. The flavors were absolutely amazing! The chef and his team are top notch. Upon entering the restaurant, the young man and young lady were very welcoming and attentive. We look forward to returning.
We LOVE the new location for Puccinella! We dine-in often for their delicious veal parmigiana and butternut squash ravioli. New seating layout feels like a European cafe with a view of the pizzas flying into their custom-decorated oven. Best pizza in McLean! If you’re there while they are serving fresh Italian cream-filled donuts, they are divine as well.
My whole family loves Pulcinella's. Your crust helps make your pizza so good. We are glad you are back and open.
