The food here is very good. It was our first time, and the server suggested 2-3 dishes because they're a small dish restaurant. If you get the spreads, make sure to try the sampler. Gives you a taste of everything! Our server also treated us well. This is a beautiful restaurant, and I would definitely come back to try more dishes.
I’ve been coming to Agora Tyson corner several times with different friends, but I am not going back. Prices are ridiculous and hey! this is not a 5 starts restaurant. highly priced for the quality of the food and the service. Grilled Octopus is a joke. The bathrooms were nasty. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this restaurant anymore. the food does not match the price. I'm not going to mention the ridiculous prices of alcohol.- the cocktails menu is not showing the real prices.
Agora came out as a recommendation in one of the DC food guides so we decided to go there for dinner. I have mixed feeling about this place and their menus. The place is really good and has a very contemporary setup with bright lovely colors and interior. However those who have had good Turkish food at other restaurants or countries may not appreciate it a lot. Food is almost below par in terms of taste except the Lamb Rack. Babaghanoogh is tasteless, Meat in the mixed platter is either over seasoned or not seasoned at all. I had heard a lot of their Kunafa but they had ran out of it.Small tables, small plates and they inform you that it’s a tapas style small serving. For this price point I would rather recommend to make reservations at any good 1 Michelin star restaurants in DC. It’s more of a snacking kind of place rather than a formal dinner affair .
I love Agora and reccomended this place to my family and friends. Great ambiance and lovely service we always feel welcomed. Today I had the lamb chops and kavurmali pide. My favorite so far is lamb ribs ( experience to share ), mixed mushrooms, and kalamar. Delicious thank you!
I've been here a few times and I really really wanted the one experience I finally chronicle to be 5 stars but unfortunately this time wasn't it. I highly encourage reservations for this place, especially on the weekends. The ambiance inside is really dependent on where they seat you - they have cute seating in the front and throughout the restaurant, but they also have weird, tight corners they squeeze tables and chairs into and asking to move tables definitely doesn't mean an improvement. Their playlist is great though and this time around I asked them for it - it's on Spotify lol.Their servers are always super polite and timely, kudos to them. We ordered the sampler which comes with a mix of dips and spreads and fresh baked bread. It was excellent. We also ordered the beef sausage pide and it was delicious. For our entree we ordered the rack of lamb (which comes with harissa and rice) and this is where I really had to knock a star off. It was perfectly cooked and beautifully presented - they slice the rack tableside and arrange it into a mountain of deliciousness. The person who sliced it for us got perhaps a bit too excited with us filming the process and salt-baed the lamb to the point where it was inedible. There was SO MUCH SALT. We managed to salvage it by scraping off most of the salt, but even what remained was way too much. A little sprinkle would've been prefect, but he dumped three generous pinches of flakey salt all over. It was such a shame because the lamb was so perfectly cooked - medium rare to rare for me, and medium well on the end pieces for my friends. I was a little mad about it, honestly.Overall though, the food is delicious. What we ordered (sampler, one pide, rack of lamb) was enough for four very hungry women. If you get the rack of lambs, I urge you to stop your server from salting it for you and save that part for yourself.
Disappointed by the lunch and also the staff/manager. First chicken wrap had completely raw dough…we showed them the raw dough, and it was extremely clear it was raw. Didn’t get much sympathy….the replacement 10 minutes later with equally as raw dough…We didn’t say anything this time and just ate the meat and wanted to leave. They didn’t even ask.In the beginning the waiter kept pushing us to spend money. And even charged us $6 for water even when we asked for regular tap water. Spent $50 for a terrible lunch. The fries were also not good. Just overall extremely disappointing experience in every way.
Really good food served tapas style. The servings are quite small so order a decent amount. The staff is very friendly - especially the barstaff. Wait for the food was not too long but the tables are quite close and the noise level a bit too loud for my taste for a quiet dinner. But if you're having a small group, this is a really great place to gather. Be sure to reserve a booth for such occasions. Food recs - the grilled octopus is excellent (though a very small dish for the price) and the grilled lamb is superb. I love the Ottoman rice, and the taboulleh is fantastic. I super appreciate that the menu has GF/DF/NF labeling - my partner is allergic to all those and it makes it so much easier to order, and they have a good selection across the GF spectrum as well. I only wish they had GF breads so we could get some hummus or baba ganoujh.
We enjoyed dining in Agora! The food was pretty good although it came with smaller portion and higher price. We liked the mushroom (could be a bit salty, but good to eat with the bread), flatbread (the Turkish sausage one was better than the minced lamb and beef one since it had cheese to balance the flavors), meat entree (both lamb chop and beef kebab) and the dessert (the crisp and sweet dessert was so special)! Parking could be challenging here.
Agora is a bustling Turkish restaurant in Tysons. After our initial place was a no go a friend called agora and tried to get same day reservation for 7 ladies for a birthday. They worked with my friend to confirm a great table mid week. We got lucky! Because it was packed.Food is delicious and flavorful and they serve many items tapas style. My fav was the mushroom side dish and loved the grilled de-boned chicken leg. The dessert was so buttery and perfectly sweet, not over powering. The waiter was somewhat forgetful about refilling our drinks but when he did come to our table he was attentive and helpful. Can’t wait to go again!
The atmosphere, the food, the knowledge of all the foods and everything was fun to learn about and try. everything we had was amazing. my boyfriend brought me as a surprise and it was perfect. we'll definitely be back
