Went to this restaurant with my family tonight. It’s down near the James River in downtown. We sat outside. The weather was nice. We had strawberry mojitos to start. Then, for entrees, we opted for fish tacos and the salmon Caeser salad. The food was good. The service was excellent.
The GOOD ! I along with friends and family have been there three times. Went there with 5 family members. Several who are fans of the Oysters on the Half Shell. Have not been disappointed. Yes they are on the small size but they are delicious. Our waitress Katie was awesome. Great Attitude, Great Personality and Definitely on the ball. Could not ask for better service. The Bad ! They DO NOT TAKE RESERVATION's Even on Fathers Day Sunday. This was VERY OBVIOUS with the come on in a WAIT TO BE SEATED AND WAIT TO BE SERVED. Got there at 5:30 and was seated at 6:00. Granted it wasn't a long wait to be seated. Served drinks and appetizers. Orders taken and the wait started. Katie kept checking on us as we watched the time go by. 8:00 pm. Two members of the group left. Very tired of waiting for our food. 8:30 the rest of us were served . Food was good considering the mood everyone was in The UGLY ! not real sure if we will go back. I felt like wait staff was short staffed along with food prep was very slow. i got the feeling that the management has the attitude of " Pack Them In. Let them wait we will feed them when we can. The wait staff and food prep crew took a beating tryin to keep everyone happy and keep a smile on their faces. Kudos to wait staff and food prep crew. Didn't get the impression management was ready for Fathers Day
Very friendly, helpful, & energized staff !!! Phenomenal ambience !!!!! Sitting comfortably warm outside after a hot day to a perfect night. Nearby glowing string-lit trees which seemed almost magical. Lightning, thunder, & a little rain attributed to the wickedly electric vibe going on! My super fresh & hot fries made me want to work here just to find out the recipe!!!! My "piggy melt" was crunchy & a bit greasy but held chef crafted flavor!! Dipping it in my leftover ketchup for more of a grilled cheese/tomato soup vibe helped. The "zombie dog" hits with a great pineapple juice sweetness followed by that needed kick. The sweet tea is recommended if you like lemon flavored/Brisk type tasting tea.First time eating & dining here & I would super recommend the experience! Can't wait to go again!!!
This was our first visit. The atmosphere was great! Our waiter was awesome. We had lunch. I had the Ahi tuna and it was absolutely amazing and beautifully prepared. We will be back to try more from the menu
Beautiful building and very clean area!! All the staff members interacted with me and were all very nice! I wasn’t sure what to get so I asked my waiter. He recommended the soft shell crab sandwich since it’s only available in May with a side of sweet potato fries. Absolutely incredible! Whole meal came out fast, hot, and fresh. Will be back!!
WD holds a special place in my heart for introducing me to an amazing IPA, Tropicannon. Most of my experience has been with the bar service and in that area they do a good job considering how busy they getI’ve eaten here a few times over the years and the food has always been pretty good. The crabby poppa w crab bisque soup is my go to. The only issue with eating there is the strong possibility of being seated near a loud table of people getting smashed, even during the day. This isn’t the water dog’s fault but it’s worth noting for newcomers
Unique place in downtown Lynchburg. It's a smaller venue so be ready to wait a while, but it will be worth it. Close to the riverfront. Interesting décor like none other.Sarah was our server and she was awesome, very attentive. She was well versed in the PPT of the oysters and this is always refreshing. The raw oysters are amazing and they have daily deals at happy hour for the raw offerings. We each ordered the "Hair of the dog bloody Mary" that go for $20 each. I posted a photo and I was not a fan. It is topped with tasty food and this was a great appetizer. The alcohol content was just right, not weak, and not so much that it was overpowering. Where it lost me was the particulate viscosity. There seemed to be chunks of black pepper, and other pieces that just didn't feel right. Maybe it was a texture thing? I ordered a soda and sipped on it throughout the meal until the others finally came clean that they were not a fan either. One person with us does not eat oysters and ordered a regular bloody Mary and it did not have the particulate as this specialty one did.The deviled egg pasta salad was odd. I like pasta and deviled eggs, but after tasting it I think those two should be kept separate. The pretzel bites are a tasty starter, and the mustard dipping sauce is good, although it has mustard seeds in it.The chicken avocado wrap is amazing. Fried pickles are served hot and crunchy. The Rachel Reuben is tasty, and I'm not usually a fan of Reuben's.
Great little stop around the river walk. The craft draft beer selection is amazing about 36 different kinds. Menu prices seem very reasonable. Had their fried breaded pickle spears. Best I've ever had. Little on the hot side though. So good got them the second time I came down to do all the restaurants (bars) in the area. At least 6 or 7 other very good places within walking distance. This river walk area is amazing for good drinks and good food. Plus roof top bars also along area. This is a must do area. And water dog is a must stop. Also they have oysters and oyster shooters.
The food was great and the service was also very good. We were able to get a table as soon as we arrived and the food was out quick and it was delicious . We will be back the next time we visit Liberty.
Love this place! The food is typically so good and never disappoints. I was however disappointed with our take out dinner this evening, finding that the chicken is no longer the amazingly delicious beer battered chicken and instead was kind of bland normal chicken. :( Please bring back the tasty ones!
