Sad that they kicked out our group on Wednesday night. If you want to have repeat guests and keep customers coming back you need to get on your A game and appreciate the business you have. Do not ever ask customers to leave if they have planned there whole evening to enjoy a nice dinner and enjoy a local band play. This is just unacceptable and I have nothing bad to say about the place just that the management needs a lot of new TRAINING!!!
First of all let me say the only reason I’m giving one star is because of the food and the service at the bar from Lisa and our waitress all were awesome. I’d I could give zero stars I would. I went to El Jefe yesterday to enjoy some great food, awesome drinks and the awesome band. Sat down at bar during happy hour with no issue. I cashed out to move to the patio to hear IV Shades of Blue. Once on the patio everything was fine until I saw one waitress going around table to table cashing people out. I looked at one table she was at and everyone’s face was of disgust and surprise. Well then our waitress (who was awesome) comes to us and asks us if we need anything else and proceeds to cash us out. Then Im assuming a member of management who has been walking around looking crazy for quite a while comes to the middle of the patio and states there is a 75 minute limit and we all need to leave to make room for people trying to get in and eat. She was very rude and I honestly couldn’t believe what I was hearing. I have never ever come across this in all my years of going out to eat or going yo listen to a band. How can you put people out after patronizing your restaurant? If there was a time limit , something should’ve been said in the beginning because I surely wouldn’t have spent my time and money there. When leaving there were 0 people waiting to get inside so was this a lie to clear us out? I love this establishment and I’m so put off by what happened yesterday. This manager needs some soft skills training. I work in customer service and have for over 20 years and what happened shouldn’t have happened at all!
Had dinner there last night. I ordered the burrito to try something different. What a mistake.... the tough, rather tasteless tortilla shell was filled with a gelatinous mass that resembled a wad of hot hide glue. The flavor wasn't that much better. It was supposedly served with a red sauce, but none was to be found. I questioned this and was informed that it was "inside the burrito." I asked for some sauce for it and was charged an additional $2.50. When I mentioned that the dinner was not up to par, the manager was out walking around the bluff walk and not available to talk to me.I am extremely disappointed in the horrific quality of the food, and the lackadaisical attitude of the staff to a dissatisfied customer. I will not be returning in the future.
Impressive assortment of gourmet tacos and drinks! Perfect Taco Tuesday hangout
Good service, boring menu. Used to really love coming here in the beginning but the menu has became less and less vegan friendly over the years. Went two weeks ago and the only meat free entree option was salad. I was told they were adding lettuce tacos to the menu soon.. so I guess now you can either get salad in a bowl or on a plate. I’m not mad, I’m just disappointed. Please please bring back the potato taco. Or portobello. I want to love El Jefe again. Two stars because the guac and drinks are good but that’s where the fun stops for plant based foodies.
Discovered this fabulous local Lynchburg taco spot on a walk downtown in the fall. Entered with no wait and the view was amazing from the outdoor patio! The food was SO fresh and guac fresh made from scratch. We loved our meal and it was very reasonable with large portions.
Great place ..great vibes
4-5 buck tacos need to worth 4-5$ tacos…. These were not. No flavor, no kick… nothing. Meat tasted like it had been sitting under a heat lamp all day. I had to ask for limes so that they had some kind of flavor.
We have been to several taco places throughout the mid-west, but would have never guessed that we would find a taco spot in Lynchburg. EJT is a hidden gem in Lynchburg. The portions are filling and the food is ?! Well worth your time to visit.
Gone downhill sharply since I was last here in the summer of 2020. Everything I had in 2020 was amazing. Tonight I tried to order the same thing I had before. They didn't have one of the tacos I used to order. And the ones they did have were mediocre at best. The chicken in the Hillbilly this time was way overcooked. Also ordered the chips and queso, which I'd loved last time. The chips were as good as I remembered. The queso was EXTREMELY disappointing. I could swear it's made from powdered cheese. That or overcooked grainy Velveeta. Cost cutting ruins yet another previously solid restaurant.I was psyched they had reopened after closing during covid, but after this experience, I won't be back.
