First time we’ve eaten at the Loft since before COVID, when we thoroughly enjoyed it, the atmosphere and the food, good steaks and sides, but not great sauce. This visit, our table ordered cod bites for an appetizer and it turned out to be like cod croquettes, some cod mixed in with lots of filler. We ordered the special of crab- stuffed shrimp. The shrimp were very, very small and filled with a large, overly-salty bread-like stuffing, couldn’t even taste a bit of crab, at $26 a hit! Tirimasu WAS delicious, but serving was appropriately one small ice cream scoop. At $186 for dinner, plus tip, we left with a “bad taste” in our mouths, feeling as though we had been taken advantage of, and will NEVER return. And I did not even mention the lousy atmosphere! What happened to the Loft?!?!
Friday night was our 2nd time dinning at Carmela's at the Loft and I can assure it will not be our last! The food and service is INCREDIBLE! The staff and owner made us feel like we were long time friends sitting down for an authentic Italian dinner. The food was amazing and clearly homemade and authentic! I can't wait to go back!
I strongly feel that this place has the freshest most flavorable ingredients in everything I tried. Normally my family sticks to there own plates but we had to share the goodness with each other! We had fried calamari, lasagna, Alfredo, beef rogue, and the strawberry pound cake ?
I have now had dinner at Carmella’s at the Loft on four or five occasions…that is your first hint. This place is excellent…very good menu, excellent presentation, and the food is great! From the drinks from their bar to the cheesecake for dessert, Carmella’s at the loft will not disappoint. Ralph and his team work relentlessly to make dining here an unforgettable experience. While all restaurants are challenged with staffing and rising costs, this is one place that dies not cut corners. If you have been, you know what I am talking about, and, if you have not been…why not? You don’t know what you are missing
First, I wasn't greeted and rather stared at when I walked in the door. Three separate people asked if I had a reservation. I proceeded to say no and inquired if I needed one. All they said was "no" with no further advisement. The meal was disgusting, watered down pasta with no flavor. I sent the meal back and politely declined another meal as I was in a hurry to get to a movie. When the check arrived, I saw that the meal was charged in full. When asked to remove the meal, the owner became boisterous and blamed me and continued to argue. It was one of the worst experiences I've ever encountered at a restaurant. Then management proceeded to take upward of 30 minutes to take our payment. I can't believe the level of unprofessionalism at this establishment. Just go to olive garden, trust me.
Very sad about our horrible experience. We had a party of 6 and every dish had some sort of mistake and no one could stomach more than a few bites of their dinner. The food was the worst I’ve had in Lynchburg to date. The atmosphere is very nice, but with each plate being $25+, you’d expect your meal to be edible at the very least. We went there a couple months ago as well and my husband got sick from the cheese fries, thought it was a fluke but our recent visit confirms it was not.
Such a shame…a nice dinner with friends ruined by jazz music being played at such a loud level that you could not even hear yourself think. Every time the drummer hit his cymbals, it just split our heads. The 6 of us couldn’t even hear each other speak sitting next to each other. This was also the worst service we have had there…always good in the past. Had to ask for our bread, no olive oil/balsamic to dip, waited 15 minutes for water refills and was never offered a soda refill, food was warm not hot when served. Just a disappointing experience all around.
Went to Camela's last night for the first time. Really enjoyed our dinner and the drinks were fabulous. A harpist was playing and the atmosphere was very relaxing. If you like Italian food and are looking for a good Italian restaurant in Lynchburg this is the place to go.
Ants in the booth at the back of the restaurant, up the wall and on the table. Didn't have my glasses on and didn't see them until someone pointed them out. We didn't mention them to management. Two of us ordered salads and each were a little different. When I questioned the one set in front of me, the waitress looked as if she had no idea if she had given me the correct salad or not. Her solution was to leave. Salad was not cold, dressing tasted like vinegar.
First of all, it’s really irritating that in today’s day and age, this place doesn’t have any kind of online ordering, but whatever..My in-laws wanted to buy us a nice dinner after a long day at UVA. My husband tried to call in a pickup order without any success. The guy on the phone was rude and then wasn’t sure if we could use my in-laws’ card to pay. Said he’d “call back in 5 minutes” but never did.I now understand why this place always looks dead and empty.
