I placed a to-go order from this establishment on July 8, 2022. When I got home and took a bite from my fish sandwich, I found some plastic in it.When I took the order back to the restaurant to get my money refunded, the pseudo manager proclaimed it was from a piping bag. Only God knows what surfaces that piping bag touched before it made its way into my sandwich. Can you say cross contamination?Perhaps it’s time for a health department visit.
Took my elderly mom here for a dinner out from her nursing home. She had been one other time and had enjoyed it so we went. She ordered the shrimp tacos and loved them and the fries they came with. My husband ordered a salad and a bowl of clam chowder. The soup was “meh” according to him. I’m a big fresh fish fan and ordered the special : halibut. It was not special and in fact seemed dry and somewhat flavorless. Halibut is pretty tough to mess up in my opinion. The restaurant was very loud. Service was ok but not stellar- it was actually so loud and our server so soft spoken we had to ask her multipletimes to repeat things she said. The brownie dessert was delicious and we all agreed that the fries were good. The bathroom was clean. Not sure why, but prices not stated on the menu. Doubt we will return.
Service was great and freshly made dinner, at least what we got. Shrimp tacos, fried calamari, lobster tail grill with ribs and the lobster bisque was delicious. You get what you pay for.
Everything from the staff , food was great and beverage selection was outstanding !! Do yourself a favor and stop by. You can thank me later.
I’m from Massachusetts and missed the seafood. Going to Fords Fish Shack and having a great dinner reminds me of home. The wonderful seafood that fills my soul.
I get it was a Friday night and maybe an off night, but no I don't think I would go back. We got there about 30 minutes before our reservation and with no where to sit or to be seated early we left and came back. Ok, not their problem. We came back and were seated, without menus, without silverware and I think we got a brand new waiter. Polite kid, but someone needs to teach him how to serve. They carry everything out with their hands, no trays so paw everything. Then I got my drink in a bottle and had to chase down the waiter for a glass. It's not a backyard, I'd like a glass and not drink out of a bottle. Service continued to be difficult to get. Food again was meh. The clam strips, you literally only get about 6ish in a portion so way pricey, although they were good. I got the tacos and they were good, but don't go for the guac for $3.50 upcharge, you won't get but a bite portion. We also had the Lobster grilled cheese which was pricy had no cheese and was mostly brioche bread. I have to agree with others the value is not there. Maybe we chose the wrong items but that coupled with the poor service I don't think I'd go back.
I love Ford's Fish Shack! I recommend the Angry Mussels for an appetizer because after you eat the mussels, you will want to drink the sauce as soup. It is so good.. I'd give anything for their recipe. I don't frequent the area much but when I do, I try to go to Ford's. We usually order the "Lobstah Roll" - Connecticut Style - and it never disappoints. It's very filling and so rich in flavor.
Planned an dinner night out with family including my daughters 2 dogs. Were informed that the restaurant was dog friendly on the patio if the dogs were kept outside the roped area (essentially on the pedestrian sidewalk). When we were given our table and realized the dog “rules” were not possible (literally across a server walkway from where we were sitting), we tucked the dogs the dogs in along the restaurant wall. We were shortly informed by a manager that the owner would not allow that dog seating arrangement. When we asked to speak to the owner we were informed that he wasn’t there. We left and took our $200+ check to an accommodating restaurant. We’ll not be back, dogs or not. Too many good local restaurants to choose from.Message to owner (who obviously is not dog savy): a dog at a restaurant can only be managed while under/next to the table. Placing a dog in a manner required by Ford’s would be MORE disruptive than our attempt to corral our dogs close by. You need to change your policy to NOT dog friendly to match your rules.
