This restaurant used to be one of the best for South Indian dishes till last year. We (3 families) went 2 months back and ordered more than 10 dishes. Not even single dish was eatable. This restaurant being famous for Aappam, on that day it was like kal dosa with no taste. It is expensive too when compared to other South Indian restaurants nearby. On top of it, they billed for our own water bottles we brought :) Worst experience ever!

Worst ever experience from Kalpasi! We visited on Mother’s Day and had the bad experience both with food and service!1. There were almost 50+ people in the restaurant with 2 servers and 1 runner! It’s understandable that it’s Mother’s Day and expected crowd! The management should have prepared it better!2. Food tasted very bad! Parotta was burnt and dry, mutton chukka tasted so spicy that we couldn’t handle the spice (trust me we eat so much spicy food!). Biryani was soaked up in oil and chicken kurma was just tumeric - not sure if they even tasted it before serving!3. The bought the soup after we started the main course!4. They kept water bottles (500ml) ones for everyone as soon as we came in. We thought it might be because of Covid protocol but they ended up charging $1 for each bottle! I would have agreed if they asked us or notified that it’s chargeable!I would have given 0 stars if it was possible, never coming back here! And wouldn’t recommend to my entire community!

Food is good but service is horrible. They gave bottled water without we ordering those and we got charged for those. When we arrived at restaurant no one is there to provide you to table. After waiting for sometime we went to bar to ask for table and that person directed us to table from there. We waited for 20 minutes no one came to take order so we went to bar again to ask we have to place order here or someone will come and take order. The guy told rudely that someone will come and take order at the table. I told I am waiting for 20 minutes and guy started arguing with me and not listening to me at all. While serving food also no response to my thank you just throwing food at the table and going. I am never going there for dine in.

I have been trying Kalpasi since 2016 in Herndon Area, food never disappointed us. Our favorites Mutton Biryani, Naan, Chicken lollipops! Chettinad style dishes are tasty! When we visited around 12:15pm there is no crowd on weekend. Restaurant is clean and they are taking a good safety precautions during pandemic ??

We ordered tandoori pomfret and tandoori chicken. Pomfret tasted great and tandoori chicken was okay. I would recommend their tandoori pomfret.

Smells amazing, looks amazing, at first it tastes amazing. But there's a heat that I can't get rid of and it's burning my mouth to the point where I'll have to find something in the hotel to take this heat away..... Doesn't say anywhere that it will be spicy....

We were going to Inchin’s Bamboo restaurant. When we reached the venue, I got tempted to see a Tamil restaurant next to Inchin’s Bamboo and we dined at Kalpasi.I was very exited to dine at a Tamil restaurant after a long time.We ordered1. Paneer 555 ( recommend by the server)2. Veg chettinad3. Parotta combo which comes with veg kurmaPaneer 555 was ok, not so great. Wouldn’t order again.Veg chettinad was too oily. Some thing was off about it, May be the proportion of the spices . The preparation looked authentic chettinad but the taste was not good.Parotta was not authentic and they were made in tandoor. I again ordered separate parotta and requested them to make it on tava. The tava made parotta was too oily and didn’t taste authentic. The kurma that was given as side was horrible, again the spices were out of proportion and tasting bitter.Other than food everything else was good. Good ambiance, servering people were nice. There not much items to choose from menu for a vegetarian person. My first experience was not that good with the food.

Very nice Indian food with decent variety. Their seeraga samba biryani is quite good. John is very friendly and helpful. my son loves the cheese dosa. The grilled pomfret fish and kothu parotta is very yummy. Wish their lunch meals combos become available soon. One of my goto places for Indian food.

Kalpasi appears to be good only for the Veg/non veg entree, as for multiple occurrences never had issue . But the recent take out experience from the restaurant had been terrible.Ordered a ‘Mutton Biryani’ and ‘Chicken 65’ . The biryani rice was clearly overcooked with excess water. It was sticky, mushy and had oil as well. The chicken 65 was just deeply fried chicken which appeared to be burnt. (Check attached images) . There was no garnishing of cilantro , curry leaves etc which is not how Chicken 65 should look. Both the dishes appeared to have been cooked in hurry .When contacted the restaurant, the manager says that is their specialty when mentioned the rice is like that and looks sticky.Would not order again any biryani or any fried food from this restaurant again.

Very nice authentic South Indian food. Very clean restaurant and friendly staff. Manager John even fulfill our request of “ making uttapam with out onions” for some of our group members for religious reason. We will be back soon. ??
