The Cocky Rooster was recommended to me by a friend that shares my love of wings. I took my son there for his birthday dinner and I wasn't sure what I was getting myself into. The place is mostly for takeout orders there's very limited seating inside as you can see by the pictures. As you walk in and you will place the order yourself on a touch screen with very little interaction with the staff. Some issues I had were the beer I chose wasn't in stock, don't know why it was on the menu, but it was. I ordered the lemon pepper wings along with a dry rub and one of the Wings came in as buffalo sauce which I did not order. No issues with the quality of the food, the wings were great. The fries were good as well.

I was really looking forward to trying this place since the reviews are so good, but unfortunately was very disappointed. I ordered the boneless wings for takeout, and though the sauces I chose tasted good, the breading on the wings was incredibly mushy and wet. The chicken was also somehow mushy(?) and each wing was about 50% wet/mushy breading and 50% mushy chicken. There was no crunch at all and cutting the wings in half with a fork turned them into a soupy mess- I only ended up eating half of 1 wing. At first I thought maybe it didn't travel well during the 10-min drive back to my house, but I've never had any problems with wings from other restaurants. My bf ordered a sandwich, which we ended up sharing. It was much better than the wings, but we both weren't impressed. $40 for 1 inedible meal, 1 decent meal, and a drink doesn't make a whole lot of sense. I'm really not quite sure why the reviews are so good. Maybe I just got a bad batch tonight, but I don't have any intentions of trying this place again.

We stopped here for some wings. I got a chicken sandwich, which was delicious. You can order ahead or inside the cute dine area. The chicken may have been air fried and the girls didn't care to much for the texture. It's a plus you can grab an adult beverage to tag along with your meal. Conveniently located inside a small strip mall with tons of parking.

We’ve been to this location several times now and each time we are blown out of the water, your owner/manager is great, he’s incredibly friendly and makes you feel right at home. The price pairs well with the portion size and rarely am I left wanting more. Our toddler loves the chicken here and it’s usually not too busy, so it’s nice after a long day to sit and eat and relax. We drive an extra ten minutes to go to this location because of the staff. It’s a 40 minute drive to get here and it’s soooo worth it.Thanks for making great food

I got 2 tenders, a side of fries, a canned alcoholic beverage and a diet coke. The service was slow, but the food was good. It was a bit pricey but the portions were big. I gave it 3 stars because I wasn't impressed enough nor was the price justified enough to make it a go-to spot.

We’ve ordered here a bunch because we like the food - the problem is their takeout/delivery is super unreliable in terms of getting what you ordered and paid for. Every single order we’ve received in the last year has had something missing, the wrong thing, etc. We finally decided to call last night when my husband got home with our pick up order and opened the bag and there were no sauces for the strips. It was clear as day on the receipt stapled to the bag the sauces were ordered, so we made sure it wasn’t our error. The person who answered the phone said “the sauces are free so we can’t do anything for you”….I meannn. The sauces are their whole niche, I could’ve got plain chicken tendies elsewhere for much less $. Just weird customer service response and for that it was unfortunately our last visit ??‍♀️. If you want to eat here I wouldn’t do delivery and definitely check the bag before you leave.

Wow this place is good. We have ordered from the Cocky Rooster twice and both times had great experiences. The wings are crispy, juicy, meaty goodness especially with the liquid gold sauce. Good lord their liquid gold is the perfect sauce for wings and for sopping up with their fries. The fries are my personal favorite style, on the thinner side, fried after being coated in corn starch to enhance the crispness, and seasoned just right. Did I mention how delicious this place is? My family has been looking for a good wing spot in Short Pump and finally we have found the best.

The BEST wings in Richmond. Safe to say there is 0 competition in town. If you’re looking for a recommendation, my go to is the garlic buff. Our 2 kids can’t get enough of the liquid gold on the boneless. Can’t forget the Sunday’s best, best chicken sandwich I’ve ever had in my life. Been a fan since the downtown location, which we love to pick up and take to our favorite downtown spots. Absolutely loving that the new spot has seating and we can enjoy all the art that’s gone into this new store. One of the reasons we moved to Richmond a few years ago was all the local artwork and artists, and I love that they hired someone local to come in and hand paint the entire store. There’s nothing like The Cocky Rooster, and it’s safe to say it’s one of our favorite spots in the Richmond area! 6 out of 5 stars for us!

Omg. I’ve been following these guys on instagram for weeks now and finally got a chance to stop in. Let me say it was off the hook. Got to talk to one of the owners which was a great surprise. The chicken tenders and fries were awesome. I’ll definitely be back to try the wings and other menu items very soon.

Hands down, the best wings I’ve ever had. They are pricey, $10.99 for 6, but the wings are huge and delicious. Our favorite was the sweet honey butter.
