What a perfect name for this amazing restaurant. The food was so delicious so comforting. From the awesome crab dip to the best green beans I've ever had. My son really loved the meatloaf and the mash potatoes. It was our first visit but it won't be our last. Next time we are in the area we will be going back.Oh, I forgot to mention the perfect French fries and their very very generous portions.You will leave so stuffed and very happy! The food is DELICIOUS! Victoria really puts all her energy and soul into the food and you can definitely tell. I recommend the salmon; seasoned and cooked to perfection! If I could say anything needs improvement, it would be the actual TIMING that the food comes out. Keep in mind this is still a fairly new establishment, so it’s not like everything is gonna be perfect. I think they should just work on getting the food out to the patrons quicker; 30mins-1hr wait is a bit much. However, while u wait, the drinks are great and the music/vibez are on point! Had a good time, definitely will return.
long wait... go in there in mothers day and it was only one family there and we still waited 2.5 hours before food arrived to table, only to find out the cook was feeding 2 buildings which is why we all suffered. just horrible experience and a church family come in just as upset as they waited 1 hour and a half and the owner comes to apologize and offers half off the bill then he leaves.. I mean literally leaves so when the bill comes, the discount was an employee discount and not the half he promised. he sends security over to pretty much force all parties to pay ticket. I had my family and kids and I paid and left. had I not been with them, I would have left all that food and the owner would have took a full lost. bad business and to leave the building..smh..
Oh my goodness gracious, I found a new home! The food in this place was out of this world. I had the soulful turkey wings and my son had the shrimp dinner. They were super delicious! We will definitely return and little by little will try everything on the menu. Nice atmosphere with great service. Will definitely recommend to my friends.
Food was so good only thing missing is a bed to lay in after you finish. Server Dominique was excellent we had a group of 25 and there was no long wait. Ribs mac & cheese potato salad crab balls all a most. Atsmosphere has a great vibe with 90's hip hop playing over the speakers. Planning on driving to VA beach from NC to make sure I come back to Southern Comfort
I was very disappointed after asking family to meet me here tonight. This was their first time visiting the restaurant. I was telling them how great the restaurant was and the food was amazing being that I’ve been here 4 previous times. However this was the worst experience I have ever had visiting any restaurant !!!! The service was horrible. The restaurant wasn’t clean and table all over the restaurant not busted. It took 45 minutes to get 3 glasses of water even than she only brought 2 forgetting about 3rd. The Waitress began to wait on another table that came in after us while we’re sitting there waiting for her to come back to take our order. My niece had ordered a drink and the waitress explain 45 minutes later that she’s not the bartender so she just have to wait until it’s mixed. My niece went up to the bartender and asked about her drink. The bartender acted as if she didn’t know anything and stated she would make her drink right now . My niece also asked for the manager. The bartender stated there was no manager. The bartender stated that she doesn’t know when the manager is going to come in. However my niece never got the drink because the bartender went out talking to somebody on the floor. I wanted to blame the staff (which most definitely was horrible )however I blame management because if you don’t hold a standard for your restaurant/ business how could I ever expect the staff to hold a standard for your restaurant. As I stated I have been here 4 times and only once have I seen one waitress two times everybody else is always new. That speaks volumes too when you can’t keep consistent staff. Black entrepreneurs always complain about why we don’t visit black businesses and / or support them. Treat your business as a business and not a hustle then you will provide better service and have better standards as it represents you Southern Comfort. You should follow your mission statement that’s online as you speak of your business because it’s surely not the same once you come the actual establishment. Is this really the cultural experience of soul food you speak of in your mission statement? I also invited some friends for lunch on Wednesday that have never been to your restaurant, however I will be calling them and canceling your restaurant and go somewhere else. You have to do better than this. If you don’t care about your restaurant why should anyone else case in point. Try reading some of the other reviews they’re not good.
It wasn’t an option to give no stars but I guess they can get one. Food is unseasoned and nasty , no hospitality, waiter had an attitude, food took 2 hrs to come out, out of everything food wise. Please don’t waste your time or money!

I have ordered food here with various delivery providers and I have never received the entire order. I called the restaurant to be certain that the meal came with bread and they replied YES, however I have never received any. Even on the 2 occasions that I paid for extra cornbread, there was still no bread. They did not include the bread with either of the dinners or the extra bread that they charged me for. This is really disturbing. I tried them for the very last time today, the meal actually arrived with the corn muffins this time (finally), however the food was subpar. after waiting for 1 hour & 20 minutes, the dinners arrived with small, thin pork chops, the collards came in a container with mostly juice and were barely seasoned and full of stems & the yams were not yams, but really over sweetened mashed sweet potatoes (they must have been scraped from the bottom of the container to be this mashed up and loose). No more tries. I've had enough. If they did not have anymore yams, they should have just said so. I have given them 5 chances. Enough is Enough! Hopefully I will find a Soul Food Restaurant that takes pride in the food that they serve and appreciates their customers.
Found this place while literally driving around trying to figure out where to eat haha! Walked in and it was very nice, clean, and had tons of seating areas. Great murals on the wall! Cozy and very laid back atmosphere. The food was delicious and prices are great for the amount of food you get. Their candied yams and sweet potato fries are some of the best that I’ve ever had!! Definitely reminds you of some good ole southern comfort food made in your momma’s kitchen!My only thing is that I would like to see condiments and napkin containers on the tables versus having to ask for everything.
