I am in love with Sal’s NY pizza. Sal’s was the best years ago and until today I wanna believe it still can be in my mind. I usually order their meat lovers which is wonderful. But today i was trying to convince my caregiver to order here instead of two other hand tossed crust restaurants. I finally convinced her. She ordered a pepperoni pizza ? with pineapple. The crust was burnt, hard and dry, barely cut. Now accidents can happen restaurants get busy. But after my aide called and got rudely dismissed with the suggestion she call back in 5 minutes. I couldn’t let it go because I’ve been advertising for them so I called back. I talked to the person answering and after he listened his reply was “now what do you want me to do “. I was floored so I replied idk maybe an apology would do but I got nothing or even compensation to her but at least an apology. Stuff happens. But that is not good customer relations 05/06/2022
Sal’s NY Pizza on King St, Hampton, VA is the real deal!! We get food from here couple of times a week. Have been wanting to leave a review for awhile. This pizza is the best I have eaten in Virginia. We used to live in New Jersey for 22 years so we know NY pizza- thin, crisp crust, perfect cheese, seasoned perfectly. I swear I pickup the pizza, get in the car and immediately grab a hot slice of pizza and eat it. OMG absolutely delicious. All of their food is delicious. Subs, wings, dinner entrees like lasagna all wonderful. Their desserts are oh so wonderful. Good selection. The 7 layer chocolate cake is good as is the cheesecakes. Staff is extremely friendly, they are glad to have your service and treat you like family. Their prices are cheaper than other places but their food is the best!! At Sal’s NY Pizza the food is the point of the experience. Great customer service is the next thing you get. At some places you can tell you are paying through the nose for all the renovations they just did. At Sal’s all their love goes in to their food.
I ordered online for the first time and went in to pick up my order. I was in shock when I walked in. This place is filthy in the front of the store. I can't imagine what it looks like in the kitchen. I was sorry I ordered, but picked up my order anyway. I ordered the Genoa salami sub ~~ there was no salami in the sub, only a thick piece of bologna ~~ totally disgusting. Threw it all away, as I was afraid that I would be sick if I ate whatever it was. Will never go back!!! What a waste of $$!
Pizza had no flavor. Ordered a white pizza. Extra cheese. Never had ricotta on white pizza, and no crushed garlic yuck. Ordered a Supreme pizza and i had to put my own Italian seasoning just to give it some flavor. They were not a good Newy York style pizza. I don't know what they would call them. Ordered because a friend recommended them.
The food is great and the service is so friendly and helpful. Would definitely go on a date or to hang out with the boys. LOVE the wings too!
I was a little skeptical at first because I’ve tried places that claim to have NY pizza and that was a lie. Sal’s is the best if not the closest to traditional pizza. I really enjoyed it. The pizza was delicious and the wings were surprisingly great as well. I got the lemon pepper wings and a regular cheese pizza. The price was also very reasonable for the amount of food I got. Overall it was really good. Don’t judge a book by its cover.
Fantastic NY Style Pizza. Great crust, large pie for a reasonable price. Margherita pizza was on point. Friendly delivery dude. Took a while ordering from Slice app, but I expected that and it was still delivered before the estimated time.
TO BE COMPLETELY HONEST ,,,,I WISH THERE WAS A LOWER RATING OPTION LESS THAN 1 STAR. Warning : Anybody who knows what authentic NY style pizza should taste like please DONT expect it from this place ,,, And don’t order any pasta dishes here if you are able to tell the difference between jar sauce /box pasta /frozen Tyson chicken from da bag and the REAL DEAL ! Mama Mia ?
I like their food, but I will not order from them since they added the "Support Local" fee on orders. The fact that I choose to spend my money with a local place instead of a national chain should be sufficient support, and I do prefer to give my business to local places when practical, but it is ridiculous to be charged an extra fee for the "privilege" of supporting local businesses.
We always enjoy our pizza from there.
