Cannot rave enough about this place! Definitely a great hole-in-a-wall type situation, and the sushi is immaculate. You get exceptionally thick, fresh cuts of sashimi and the cost is comparable to competing sushi restaurants. They have complimentary offerings of miso soup and I believe ginger salad, and I always go for their sashimi combo. The cuts of sashimi are so buttery and bouncy. The owner of the restaurant is so incredibly sweet and attentive, and I’ve never had an unpleasant experience with any staff members. The shop is relatively small but decorated closely to a Japanese restaurant. Totally recommend you come for a quaint dinner date with a loved one as the aesthetic and atmosphere is very homey and comforting!

I must admit that when it comes to Sushi, I have been spoiled by our local restaurant and as it turns out, our local place is exceptional. Having said that Tokyo Sushi had OK sushi. Must of the menu is fried based sushi and the prices are high, in my opinion. The service was again, ok and in general that's the thing with the whole experience; it was ok. Nothing was innately wrong, but nothing was jumping out at me that was good. Will I stop in next time I'm in town? Probably not but only to try another sushi place.

We had another good dining experience at Tokyo Sushi. The staff is friendly, and the food is very good. My only complaint is that the food was served too quickly with my entrée coming while I was still eating my appetizer.

One of, if not the best sushi I've had in Richmond. Friendly staff/owner and the kitchen is quick.

The sushi rolls and sashimi are the best around. Highly recommended.

The sushi here is very fresh and they have a good variety. I enjoyed everything that I ate. The prices are average and they have a decent fish-to-rice ratio. The owner was very nice, the wait staff was attentive, and the place was clean. I will definitely return.I did not give a 5th star, because we sat at the sushi bar and the sushi chef did not interact with us at all. That is part of the experience when at the bar, so it was disappointing. Our food took quite awhile since there was only one chef working, although it was delicious.

Great place to get quality sushi. Friendly staff. Small intimate location for couples or can cater to a large group.

Quaint and intimate with good sushi. I would like to see better descriptions on the menu.

The food is good but apparently they ignore any notes you put in. I asked for extra yum yum sauce. they don't have it in the menu or I would have GLADLY paid extra. they completely ignored my note even though I tipped well. They gave me 1/3 of a little cup of the sauce, I'm assuming that is what they give with a typical hibachi order, which is sad, the cup should at least be close to full or full. When I dine in all the japanese resturants I have been to are very generous with the sauce so why be so stingy with take out? So my suggestion is please add the sauces as extras on your menu and pay attention to notes. I don't think I'm asking for too much to include some extra sauce. The other Japanese restaurants in the area usually have the sauces on the menu so you can order more. Other than that no real complaints.

It's hard to find good sushi around the Richmond area. I have found some that is pretty good, like Samurai Sushi on Nuckols Rd (where the staff is awesome!!!), but the Sushi here is top notch! I will be returning!
