My family and I experienced Mama Cucina for the first time yesterday. The food and service were both impeccable. We will definitely be back!
Had been wanting to eat here for a long time because of the rave reviews . Got the chance last night and I was not impressed with the food or the service. I did notice the waitress at the table next to us was friendly and attentive, unfortunately ours was not. The food came in a large portion but was mostly pasta with just a small amount of meat and cheese. It is a small restaurant that fills up very quickly and when full is crowded and VERY noisy - not a place for conversation. Was glad I got to go but don’t plan on returning.
I dined here for the first time last night with family. The food was good. The portions were very large ( enough for 2-3 people) and I had to box the remainder of my food to go. I order two (2) alcoholic drinks.. a Manhattan and a Lemon drop…can’t remember the name. Both drinks were very good and strong. Our waitress was very nice. She was working multiple tables but managed well where we hardly had to wait for anything. I will have dinner here again.

I absolutely love this restaurant! This is my second time here, and I have no complaints at all. I went here on a Saturday night with a few friends and we were seated almost immediately after telling them we had a reservation. As for the food, it is always cooked perfectly, the quality of flavor is always top-notch, and the staff are very attentive and friendly.The food: I decided to give the Zambota a try. I usually get the Seafood Combination, however, the scallops ran out. So why not try something new? I was not disappointed at all going for the Zambota. It includes Veal, Pork, Chicken and Shrimp in a flavorful red sauce. The quality of meat was there and the flavor of the overall pasta dish was amazing. Not to mention, their portions are HUGE too!The service: The staff were very welcoming and friendly. The environment was clean and pleasant. However, the restaurant is a little small. So I would recommend making a reservation beforehand, so you don't have to wait for a seat.Overall, a 5/5 is well deserved! I can't wait to come back again when I'm in RVA.
We have been coming here for the last 5 years. Over the top service, friendly staff , all with smiles, and the food… Wow! Thanks again for a great anniversary.

People always write reviews after, I'm doing my during! The food here is so good that i stayed 3 hours and ate twice! Service 2nd to none! Its a absolute MUST VISIT...
The server was rude. We asked a question because we couldn’t believe they didn’t have Prosecco and she replied you can asked me 100 times and I continue to answer no. I ordered a $ 12 glass of Italian wine and it tasted like a wine from a bottle that has been opened for awhile. Then I went to a bar and order another $ 12 wine to see what they were serving me and my server got upset and told me I will bring it to the table and she repeated like 3 times.The wine that I got was still very bad for the price. So, my advice to you is if you order wine per glass, ask then to bring the bottle of wine to the table. After the bad experience we still left 15% of tip.
The food and service was wonderful! I will definitely be back!
