The fantastic fresh sushi and spicy crab salad ?
First time here but will definitely be back. Best sushi ? I have ever had !
This place exceeded my expectations... Every bit of 5 stars! From the amazing service to the delicious sushi. We had some melt in your mouth Toro sashimi, a Miami roll (newfound fave), Amazing roll (yes it was amazing), and the Dynamite roll. Everything was super tasty and fresh. Tempura cheesecake for dessert was the perfect finish to a great dinner.
Great food. Nice staff. Can get busy during dinner hours so I go outside of that and get sorted quickly. Sushi and rolls are amazing!
Huge fan of Umi. They have some fantastic vegetarian items (really love the tofu dishes, it's piled high) and my boyfriend always gets katsu chicken. The appetizers are filling and enjoy the salad and miso. The price point for the area is actually very reasonable. I find it to be one of the best Asian options in town.
My husband and I lived in Japan for a few years and had some top notch sushi over there along with some places in Florida where we lived our whole lives before moving to Virginia. I can honestly say Umi is without a doubt the BEST sushi place we have tried EVER. Don’t bother going anywhere else - we have tried some other places nearby and were very disappointed. The fish is fresh and their special rolls have so much flavor. Besides the tuna spoon and salmon sashimi, our favorite rolls are the volcano roll, amazing roll, and superman roll. Also love the pork gyoza and fried rice. Every time family comes up to visit from Florida, going to Umi is on their to-do list, and has becomes a bi-weekly, if not weekly staple restaurant for our family.
This restaurant should not be calling themselves as a “Japanese “ restaurant. It’s nothing Japanese. They serve some kind of seafood that is not Japanese food. Grocery store deli serves more like sushi dish. The food on the photo was soaked in a spicy Chinese oil. What is this called!? Please, change your name. I wanted to eat some Japanese food. You don’t serve any.
Delicious…Awesome food!!!
Rating is strictly on the lunch menu items we ordered to go. The sashimi slices were few, thin and lacked variety. The nigiri sushi lunch is a much better deal. But the sushi rice taste and quality wasn't great. There may be better choices in the area.
I usually go to Fujiya House for Sushi but they have been closed since covid. Umi did not disappoint. I tried four different rolls and a lettuce wrap all were excellent. Good quick service. It's not a large place and doesn't look like a traditional Japanese restaurant but excellent food.
