We went to Olde Towne Steak and Seafood with friends to celebrate a good friend's 60th birthday. It had been a first for some of us and for some of our friends, well over a decade since they had been back. The food was fantastic! We all have very different palates and agreed the food was cooked perfectly to our requests. The service we received from our waitress was fantastic as well. We never had to wait for anything. The owner also made her way to our table to ask about our food and service which you just don't see happen any more. I think all of us would agree we will return again.
Recently had dinner with out of town guests at Olde Towne and was expecting same excellent experience I have had in the past. While the food and service met my expectations, the salad left much to be desired. It was literally nothing but lettuce and that was not fresh. Even the garnish on the entree was disclored around the edges. Bag lettuce would have been better than that. Would hate to lose a true gem in downtown Fredericksburg because of bad lettuce. Notice in other reviews I am not the only one disappointed.
This place has excellent service (I'd say in the top 5% of the 'burg) and very high quality food. Do expect to pay for both of them, they don't pretend to be "bargain" priced that I saw, and they definitely aren't.Great place for an important date, or an "impressive" business dinner. They do have multiple rooms and you can rent one out if your party size justifies it.Terry was excellent!
So disappointing! I once again neglected to check the reviews. Something told me to leave when I only saw two cars in the parking lot. Where do I start. The fried shrimp came out suspiciously fast. Before I could even say anything my server says “I know it was quick, but don’t worry they’re fresh.” Not bad. Coating could have been a bit crunchier. I ordered lobster tail and filet mignon that came with a baked potato and salad, as well as a side of Crab Imperial suggested by the server. Just as others have said the salad was just bagged iceberg lettuce on the plate strangely covered by one half of a dark green Romaine leaf, and salad dressing. I ordered my steak medium. It came out well done. Thankfully so because it had no flavor and had a burnt taste. I’m not sure if they burned the bacon it was wrapped in or if they burned the butter. When the server asked if I wanted it recooked I said no, knowing that it wouldn’t have been good even if it was the proper temperature. The Crab Imperial was a soupy, nasty mess. I wasn’t familiar with the dish when I ordered it, but the server suggested it. I should have declined when she said she couldn’t describe it. Easy. The words “hot mayonnaise” would have been enough to deter me. This tired dish needs to be put to rest permanently. The potato was hard. On two occasions I had to flail my arms to interrupt the wait staff chit chatting with the bartender so that they could get the server for me. No manager ever came out and apologized for my failed meal. And, they tried to charge me a la carte after taking off the steak and Crab Imperial. I still haven’t eaten the lobster tail. To be honest, I’m scared. The restaurant itself has a nostalgic classic vibe, which I love. However, they give classic a bad name. By the time I left, I was the only one in the restaurant. I don’t know how this place stays in business. Do yourself a favor and go to one of the many great restaurants in historic Fredericksburg.
I have never believed the phrase "melts in your mouth" when it comes to meat. I thought it was a fancy description resturaunts use to attract customers. Then I came here. The Prime Rib MELTED in my mouth and I got to taste all the flavor. The waiter was also super nice and very accomodating for my family. This was worth the trip and price!
Horrible food. As in the worst I may have had in years. Do not spend a dime here because that is even too much to pay for the garbage we had.
Was a lovely Valentines Dinner! Our server was amazing and very attentive! I had the blackened Mahi Mahi topped with lump crab, 2 jumbo shrimp and my husband had the fried seafood platter. It all was fantastic!
Excellent food and service
This place is top notch. It's a little old school which I really like. I really enjoy coming here for the prime rib no other place gets quality prime rib like this. It's so good that I don't even get prime rib anywhere else it's a waste of time. All their ingredients are real top quality and I really recommend this place if you're out in Fredericksburg Virginia.
Expensive. Service was not great. 1 order was ok blackened Mahi Mahi but really dry. The 9oz filet that I ordered medium came out raw in center. Red/Purple ..Raw. The edges were hard as a rock. Sat there almost 10min waiting on server to come back out so I could let her know..Finally flagged down another They were just going to throw in back on the cook top, grill etc. Had to point out the top bottom and edges were over well done but center was raw. After about 20min I finally got another. Guess what. It had some pink. Plus was cut halfway through the steak in 4 places. $50.00 steak ruined. I ate it. And washed it down with my $6.75 diet coke. Not a great night.
