This was our first time at Billiken's. It had been highly recommended by our friends Our server, Daniel, was very knowledgeable about the history of the building and was able to tell us a lot. We came for a quick bite and an appetizer. We got the burnt ends and it was delicious. I love the atmosphere here and the food is delicious. Topped with amazing and knowledgeable service! Absolutely would recommend this place to anyone and we will most likely be here again.
We had a fantastic meal at Billiken's this evening. First off, the building itself is amazing and historic; second, our server was friendly and attentive; and last but certainly not least, the food tasted great. The three of us had a pulled chicken sandwich, a 3 meat sampler platter, and a pulled chicken platter. The sides selected were mac n cheese, baked beans, and potato salad. Everything tasted fresh and flavorful. Good selection of sauces too! This isn't the cheapest place, but it holds true to "you get what you pay for" in terms of quality. We'll definitely be back!
Absolutely delicious food! My husband got the rattlesnake pasta & I got the brisket platter. Mac & cheese is homemade!!! Staff was great & attentive. We will definitely go again our next trip to Fredericksburg!
Billikens is a dog-friendly BBQ restaurant with tasty food, a good selection of drinks, and plenty of outdoor seating. Our waitress Lindsey was awesome and knew everything about Fredericksburg (she use to participate in Civil War Re-enactments and is a history buff). She was also very competent and quite pleasant. We sat outside with our dogs who were welcomed by the staff, and got treats from our BBQ plates. Overall, the place is good and enjoyable.
My wife and I were looking for a good place where we could enjoy some BBQ and sit indoors. After looking at the reviews we decided to try Billikens. We arrived about 4:30 on a Saturday afternoon and were initially pleasantly surprised they were not crowded at the current time. We were told we could sit anywhere so we selected a table and awaited the server. Our server informed us this was just his 2nd day on the job but offered some appetizer choices. We had the burnt rib tips which were sweet and not bad, however it took quite a while for our server to return to us. Two other tables in the meantime had guests arrive and seated at them and were served by a different server. Our order was eventually taken, however to our dismay the other two tables had received their meals and one table actually finished their meal before we even received ours. When we did receive our meal, it was lukewarm (I had the combination platter and my wife a salad). Attention to detail was lacking and perhaps we should have spoken to the manager; however, you would have thought the slightly picked over meal we left when we asked for the check would have been a clue. Anyway, an average meal at best. Perhaps if it was at least hot and served timely we would have a more positive review. Almost forgot, the cost was $100 with tip (no desert, no alcoholic beverages, way too much)
Nice lunch. Crowd started coming in about 12:30. Wonderful staff, good food and warm environment. Dining in or on the patio. Bourbon bar upstairs.
A Great Place to take Family Friends and CoWorkers. Friendly and Knowledgeable Staff. Good selections of food and drinks. The outside eating area is nice.
On a recommendation, I changed dinner plans and came here. Stoked I did! Brisket slices were amazing with very little fat but still tender and flavorful. Pork ribs were the same. Low fat and falling off the bone. Atmosphere is super cool as well. Patio with a band and a little more refined in the restaurant area. Customer service was also outstanding. Highly recommend.
The food was great, but the service was extremely lacking!!We never got silverware, and didn't see the waitress until the end with the check! Couldn't even order another drink!!
Not impressed, no one welcomed us.Didn't know the history of the building.Bar not stocked.Employees complaining about customers.Wasn't offered food or more drinks .What happened to customer service. We had more fun on the trolley.Management don't let your employees tell you stories about this situation. We own a restaurant and would not settle for this.
