Remember when your mom cut the bananas just right for your piping hot oatmeal early up on a cold, dismal, rainy Saturday morning? Yeah, ya do, right? Yep, and me, too… so much so reminded this morning as my pal and me met up after a protracted separation from each other during this Covidmess. Usually we would meet at Silver Diner in Arlington (my abode since changed); today we went to the Merrifield locale. For me, this was a big time blessing in the making.Sweet, neighborly waitress Angie — the proverbial nice, smiling lady next door who lets you pet her cats and gives you a warm hug when the day just isn’t going well for ya — served us up a dandy morning of heart&sunshine in the midst of a cold, grey early-May rain. As stated above, the oatmeal was steaming hot. Plentiful, fresh, not at all watery or, worse, uncooked, and yep… hot! Oooh, yummy with an almost-pious natural brown sugar on request. The bananas cut up evenly, like she used one of them Ginsu knives sold on TV in the 70s. Bananas don’t always make me happy. Here, Angie definitely picked one correct: not mushy and not ‘hard’ — just perfect in each right-sized bite. Exactly what my tuned body needed before heading to the MMA gym.My fun & cool “pal in a ball cap” had a breakfast egg bowl with fillings that he said were ‘amazing, flavorful, and delish’… but understand that’s my “gringo translation” of his Spanish exclamations. So, for personal better understanding of a hearty breakfast here, best come in yourself and try it out. Bring a friend (more fun assuredly!). You won’t be displeased, guaranteed. And, as added enjoyment, pay keen attention to the music ? in the background. That’ll take you back to those Saturday mornings, too. Before Covid came and killed our chill & thrill vibe.Amen to Heaven’s generosity: a smiling waitress (indeed all the staff!) and a tasty comfort meal found at Silver Diner! ??✌️??
Good food friendly staff. Great atmosphere. Liked it so much I went 3 days in a row for breakfast 1950s vibe.
In the area visiting family and wanted a place we could all eat at. I have a lot of dietary restrictions that my family does not, so this seemed like a perfect fit. I had a vegan cold brew milk shake and the just egg/beyond meat breakfast tacos. All vegan and all amazing! The shake was topped with almond milk whip cream and a cherry. I would’ve ordered a second shake if I wasn’t so full! The staff we all very friendly. From the moment we walked in they were smiling and joking around, definitely seems like a fun place to work. The atmosphere is very reminiscence of a lot of the older road side diners but with one exception… it was clean! They also have air purification systems throughout the diner and offer patio seating for anyone worried about Covid.Overall, I loved the vegan option and was more than happy with the portions. Staff was great and diner was very clean. I couldn’t recommend this place more and will definitely be adding it to my regular eateries when I’m in town .
I had the American Favorite breakfast and my colleague had the Belgian Waffles. My eggs and sausage were good. The potatoes were plentiful. I didn’t eat the biscuit because it looked a bit dry. The waffle was cooked more than I would have liked had I ordered it. The host and server were friendly.
Good food. Farm to table dishes available. The place has always looked clean when I go. Service can be hit or miss. Usually good but there was one waiter on one of our several visits this week that was not up to par. Prices are a little high but I guess the farm to table part makes that to be expected.
Good food and great service from Yodi
About as American as it can get?. Everything I imagined how an American diner looks like and feels like. First ever American diner I visited and boy oh boy, exactly how they show them in movies?, even equipped with a working jukebox ?.Great ambiance, great pie and an overall just great food. Had a pancake, scrambled eggs and coffee and it was scrumptious ?. The staff were also very friendly and very very helpful. They made sure I enjoyed every bit of my experience. I think maybe that’s why the place was so full. I totally recommend.
Great quality for the price! Have been only carrying out there, but despite that the meals still have been good when i got home with them. This is a go to place for my daughter who has very severe gluten intolerance. Food has always been ready on time. I love their 600 calorie chicken piccata
This was a great stop, food was delicious, they have great vegan options!! ????
Good, reliable food in a clean, pleasant setting. The service was kind of slow on our most recent visit. Covid-relatef staff shortage, I think
