The food was ok the majority was spicy and to spend money for kids doesnt deserve spicy food. Also the drink was supposingly lemonade and a red drink which was supposed to be fruit punch but bother water down and to spend a lot of money and not worth it and it seems like the owner and employee only perfer to help specific people if you can read between the lines. The deserto tested like beach and cholrox mixed!!!
We had party last night at this place food was very good and fresh menu was pretty big too many dishes service was excellent very accommodating staff i really recommend that Restaurant for all type of parties
I don't like to give any business a bad review, but it may helpful for the business owner to improve these things. This was my first time there. Restaurant is very big from inside nice look. Now come to the food review. I would like to give them below then 1 star but there is no option here. Worst restaurant ever. Food was cold, service was very slow to refill the buffet trays or dishes you have to wait for long. Usually Chinese buffets have a lot of food items, they have only 4 racks of buffets tables in which one table was Pakistani appetizers or starters , 2nd was Chinese food, 3rd was Pakistani food, 4rth rack was salad plus desserts and fruit, I wish to have some pictures to share here because their 70 percent buffet dishes were empty and we were waiting for refills .Its a mix Chinese and Pakistani restaurant. They should focus on one at least to improve the food quality. This place use to be Chinese restaurant and this the new owner who bought this place I guess. You will notice that there are still a lot of buffets racks there in the restaurant but all are empty so they are offering very less dishes compare to other Chinese buffets. I would not recommend this place to any one. With taxes its goes to $30 a person which is way expensive so please do not waste your money and Please always check there all reviews before you are going there.
Great experience from beginning to end.Called to make a last minute reservation; they were fully booked but the manager was able to find a last minute table and accommodate a fairly large group. We were there for an iftar buffet. The food was delicious, great selection, and, despite the rush of people all at once, they kept the buffet trays full. Good mix of Chinese and Pakistani food. The chai was also good. Will definitely return and start ordering Hunan Village for delivery too!
*I rate restaurants in their respective food category*I give Halal Hunan Village a 5 star review for their Shrimp Hunan dish. The eleven shrimp were a medium-large (21-25/lb) size, and the take out meal came out quickly after my in restaurant to-go order. The vegetables had a nice slight crunch to them, and the classic Hunan brown sauce was flavorful.
TLDR: very slow service and spacious seating. More expensive and healthier than usual chinese food, but less traditional taste. Expect large parties inside and a very laid back and slow atmosphere.I was excited to see the new halal chinese sign and passed by to try what i used to have from the few halal chinese places in NYC, but this was different. The area inside was very large and so was the seating, the wait was very long we almost left(insanely understaffed) Prices were cleanly double the prices that i remember for each item, but because of the location and cuisine rarity i didn't mind(and maybe my price reference is old).Beef on a stick was bad relative to what i'm used to, very dry and small, more steak-ish than tender tyriaki sauce laced meat candy. The dumplings were surprisingly large and better than i expected. The sesame chicken was all breast parts and just didn't taste like the traditional chinese fried chicken bits i've had a lot in the past, reminded me of tyson's bits).Service to leave was again slow(which is why i'm writing this long review). Will come again for sure but with adjusted expectations. Suggestion to management is to serve quicker or they will lose customers. Also, serving healthier(fancier/more wholesome) versions of chinese food is not exactly a bad thing, but if it can also be closer to the traditional chinese food that would be the best of both worlds, so not to surprise those looking for traditional chinese food that is halal.
Excellent food, excellent selection and excellent service! I've been a couple times and so far, everything I've had has been really good. Price is very reasonable and portions are huge. I look forward to becoming a regular and trying more of their vast menu. The service is very friendly and fast, and attentive without being overbearing. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for tasty halal food!
I'm the biggest Chinese food expert in this country (yes sometimes soy sauce makes me high) and i would say that this place is definitely awesome. Excellent service, very clean and decent foods. Mongolian beef was at top level. fried lamb dumplings was close to perfect. yes I may be exaggerating a little but comparing to similar restaurants where I visited most of them, this place is way above the average.
Went here at around 7:30p today and throughout the duration of our one hour meal, we saw our server when he took our order and put our food on the table. Never saw him again, not even in the actual room. Had to ask someone else for water and literally had to walk up to another waitress and ask for my check and then pay at the front since no one came to get the money. Told the older gentleman at the front, who claimed to be the owner, about our experience and he said they were busy and to take a menu?? There was plenty of staff and it wasn’t even that packed. The first time we did take out and it was good, hence the one star.
Honestly a very solid Chinese place. My boyfriend and I were skeptical when we came in for dinner on a Wednesday night and we were the only customers in the entire restaurant—we’d both come here previously when it was under a different name/management, so we were curious how the new place would be. The food was cheap, the portions were big, and the taste was decent. It’s definitely more on the American Chinese side, but our server was very nice and for the price and quality, I really have no complaints. Also, although we are not Muslim, the fact that it is halal is a plus and is nicely inclusive to those in the community who do eat halal and want to find good Chinese food that caters to them.
